These works created by the playwright and poet He Jingzhi are deeply loved by the public and have influenced the growth of generations of young people with their zeitgeist and artistic charm. Due to his advanced age and the special reasons of the epidemic, Elder He lived in simplicity and basically refused to be visited by the media.
At 4:30 p.m. on April 13, four members of the Media Team of China Youth Daily came to Elder He's home as scheduled with the gift samples of "Song of Lei Feng" and recent newspapers that had been produced overnight. In front of the camera, Elder He talked about it without diminishing the style of that year.
"The spring of 1963 made us so excited! History is answering: Oh man, it should be born like this! Oh, that's how it should work! He Jingzhi's lyrical poem "The Song of Lei Feng", composed in the spring of 1963, was published in the China Youth Daily on April 11, 1963. Elder He happily recalled to us that "The Song of Lei Feng" was published in China Youth Daily before and after... "Although I think this long poem is OK, it is far less 'high and wonderful' than other famous masterpieces." Elder He said humbly.
"The old society forced people into ghosts, and the new society turned ghosts into people", He Jingzhi wrote the script "White Haired Girl" in his early 20s, and the grandeur of the premiere is still fresh in his memory. After an hour and a half of free talk, Elder He told us about the twists and turns of going to Yan'an in his youth, the growth process in Yan'an, and the story behind the creation of "White Haired Girl", "Back to Yan'an" and "Song of Lei Feng"...
"Upstairs in the smoke and rain - listen to the sound of the waves / sing together - the song of the heart boat." This is a famous sentence in He Jingzhi's 1992 "Wing Nam Lake Boat". He Jingzhi joined the Communist Party of China at the age of 17, and this 80-year-old party member expressed his deep affection and good wishes for the party with his works and true feelings.
