Reading the "Scriptures": ZengZi Kills Pigs and Kills People?
★ The city of the wife of the great-son, and the son wept with it. His mother said: "Female return, Gu is killed by Ru." "When his wife came to the city, Zengzi wanted to hunt and kill him. The wife said: "Play with the baby." Zeng Zi said: "Baby non-drama also." Babies are not knowledgeable, treat their parents and scholars, listen to the teachings of their parents, and now the child deceives, is the godson to deceive. The mother deceives the son, and the son does not believe in his mother, so he becomes a teacher! "Sui cooking also." - "Han Feizi Zengzi Kills Yan (zhì)"
[Sir]: Zeng Zi told people with words and deeds that in order to do a good job, even for children, they should also believe in what they say, be honest and untruthful, and teach by example more than words.
According to statistics, there are 38 "letter" characters mentioned in the Analects. Mr. Yang Baijun pointed out in the "Commentary on the Translation of the Analects" that "faith" has four meanings: in the Analects, the word "faith" in the twenty-four places is "honest and not deceitful", eleven are "believe and reliable"; one is "to make believe and trust"; and the second is to use the adjective or adverb, which is "sincerity". Therefore, the word "faith" is generally interpreted as "words and faith", that is, "integrity".
"Faith" is connected with the "benevolent" Tao ontology, and in interpersonal communication, people can rely on it and make people feel at ease; without "faith", people will have no support, and it does not matter that their "people" are also. Therefore, in the Analects of Government, it is said: "A man has no faith, and he does not know what he can do." The big car has no knee (ní), the small car has no foot (yuè), why does it work? "Faith" is an important part of its Confucianism, a prerequisite for standardizing the moral principle of "benevolence," and an inevitable result of moral cultivation; "a country of a thousand multiplications, respecting things and believing, thrifting and loving people, and making the people trustworthy," "faith" requires people to keep their faith, so as to achieve the goal of adjusting the antagonistic contradictions between the ruling and the ruled class; "the people do not believe in standing," and Confucianism regards "faith" as the foundation for building and governing the country. "Faith" as a Confucian ethical category, meaning honesty, trustworthiness, not hypocrisy.
Sima Guang recorded a story in the 194 volume of the Zizhi Tongjian: In the sixth year of Zhenguan (632 AD), Emperor Taizong of Tang recorded prisoners, felt pity on him, let him go home, and agreed to return to Beijing the following autumn to "die". The 390 death row inmates released home "all went to court as scheduled" without supervision, and none of them fled. Tang Taizong was grateful for this and was all exempt from the death penalty. Why is it so honest? "Faith is close to righteousness, and words can be repeated!" The Confucian advocacy of "words and faith" - integrity, so that the Chinese nation has won the reputation of "the state of etiquette".

Immediately, one of them told him, "I have participated in the murder!" "His mother was afraid, and threw herself over the wall. The husband believes in the sage of Zengsan and the mother, and the three people doubt it; then the loving mother cannot believe in it. - "Warring States Policy, Qin Ce II, Zengzi Killing"
[Sir]: Compared with the widely circulated "Zengzi killing pigs", this story of "Zengzi killing" may not be known to many people, but the truth of this story is not unfamiliar to everyone - in the face of rumors, once or twice may not believe it, but if the number of times is too much, even the most knowledgeable and trusted people will inevitably believe it.
One kills pigs, one kills; one believes, one rumors. It was a joke that it happened so perfectly to Zengzi.
The issue of "integrity" is not only being discussed in our current era, it is a hot topic in any one era. For more than two thousand years, "Zengzi killing pigs" and "Zengzi killing people" have been like two sides of yin and yang, which have interacted and influenced people's thoughts. Sadly, it seems that the latter is much more powerful.
