author:Heavy drug Schiller

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), headquartered in Switzerland, was established in 1906 as the earliest international electrotechnical standardization body.

Schiller Vice President Johann Jakob has been involved with IEC for more than 20 years. He chaired the International Joint Working Group, which developed standards for electronic medical devices.

This year, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) awarded Johann Jakob the IEC 1906 Award for his contributions to the standardization of electronic medical devices.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) honoured Johann-Jakob SCHMID with the IEC 1906 Award for his commitment to the standardisation of electromedical devices.

The IEC 1906 Award, one of the most important awards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), was established by the IEC Executive Committee to commemorate the establishment of the IEC in 1906 to recognize national technical experts who have made outstanding contributions to the IEC International Standardization of Electrical Engineering.

The award is awarded annually. Nominated by the chairmen and secretaries of the IEC technical committees, it is issued after review by the technical officer of the IEC Central Office.

Medical standard setting

Mr. Johann, Vice President of Schiller, co-developed these standards for the safety of medical devices in the field of cardiopulmonary and emergency resuscitation.

These standards have been adopted as legal standards in the United States and Europe, and manufacturers must comply with them when developing new equipment for the local area.

Johann-Jakob said: "We are defining a common new standard for resting ECG, exercise ECG, Holter and cardiac monitoring devices, that is, the standard by which all heart activity is measured. "The new standard is currently being developed and is expected to be released in 2022.

These standards significantly contribute to the safety of medical devices, for example in the cardiopulmonary field, in rescue or in resuscitation. In the USA and in Europe, these standards have now been adopted as legal standards and are therefore mandatory for manufacturers when developing new devices. A new standard for the ECG sector is currently in the works and will be published in 2022. Johann-Jakob Schmid explains: "We are defining a new, common standard for resting, stress and long-term ECG as well as for the monitoring of cardiac activity, i.e. for everything that measures electricity in the heart".

The award is not only a tribute to Johann Jakob, but also a tribute to the Schiller Group.

Alfred. Schiller, chairman of the Schiller Group, is pleased that Johann has received the international award: "We support Johann-Jakob Schmid's responsibilities to the IEC. The safety of medical devices is our top priority."

The award is also a recognition for SCHILLER, headquartered in Baar/Switzerland. Alfred E. Schiller, the owner and chairman of the SCHILLER group, is delighted with the international honour bestowed on his deputy: "We welcome and support Johann-Jakob Schmid's commitment to the IEC. The safety of our medical equipment is our top priority".
