The story of Yuan Lantern Schiller and "Ao Bao Rendezvous"

Yantai Yingzi is the most typical Mongolian Zhen gathering place in the Mongolian Zhen region. More than 95 percent of the village's 1,400 people are Mongolian, and even the local Han Chinese can speak fluent Mongolian. Every traditional festival, Yantai Yingzi people who can sing and dance will sing and dance in front of Ao Bao, forming a beautiful landscape of national art and tradition. On the north slope of Yantai Yingzi, the thirteen Ao Bao are set off by green grass and blue sky, surrounded by colorful prayer flags, and in the yurt arch guards, which are even more magical, sacred and mysterious, giving people an endless reverie and endless awe, and like telling the long-standing stories about Ao Bao in a small mountain village:

A long time ago, in the beautiful and rich Grassland of Yuan Lantern Schiller (Yantai Yingzi), there lived a family, and only the grandchildren depended on each other. They have no means of subsistence and can only survive by herding sheep for a shepherd's family in the village for many years. Because the child is skinny and tall, but brave and kind, the herders call him Yuan Lantern. The Mongolian Jin (Mongolian Zhen) grassland is a rich land with wide heavens and fertile grass. It is both a good place to graze cattle and a dangerous place where wild animals often roam. One day, Yuan Lantern sang a song, drove the sheep, and came to the grassland again. Don't look at the yuan lantern is thin and small, but he is particularly fond of the sheep, afraid that the sheep are cold, afraid that the sheep will not have enough to eat, especially the wild wolves on the grassland, he must always guard against the wolves from hurting the sheep. However, due to the fact that Yuan Lantern did not have enough to eat all day, coupled with the fatigue of herding, he lay down on the grass and fell asleep. In his sleep, he heard the sheep running, and the "mother" screamed as if to ask him for help. Yuan Lantern suddenly opened his eyes and saw a wild wolf biting a sheep. Yuan Lantern hurriedly picked up the long wooden pole and ran towards the wild wolf. The wolf, which had been hungry for a few days, opened its blood basin mouth and rushed towards the Yuan Lantern. Yuan Lantern was small, but he was not afraid at all. He hurriedly used his body to block the wolf, so that dozens of sheep all scattered and fled, leaving him alone to fight with the wolf. When the herders arrived, the lantern had been bitten to death by the wolf, and the two small hands were still clutching the wooden pole tightly.

The herders, with a sense of grief, buried the lantern on the hill. Since Yuan Deng's death, his elderly grandmother had been crying in front of the grave all day, and she was blinded by crying. Strangely enough, since then, wild wolves have never harmed livestock on the grasslands. The herders all said that this must be the yuan lantern concerned about the suffering of the shepherd, and after death, he became a god, protecting them from the invasion of wild beasts, and the herders sacrificed this brave child as a protective god on the grassland.

Later, whenever people walked to the tomb of the Yuan Lantern, they put the selected stones on his grave. In this way, year after year, more and more stones are piled up, and the tombs of the Yuan Lantern are piled higher and higher, forming a large stone pile, which the herders call "Yuan Lantern Ao Bao".

The story of Yuan Lantern Schiller and "Ao Bao Rendezvous"

Until now, every summer and autumn auspicious day, people have to come to Ao Bao to sacrifice, praying that the lantern will bless their herd with prosperity and a happy life. Later, Xinglong Temple was built in Yuandeng Xile (Yantai Yingzi), and people built a large Ao Bao Mountain next to the big temple - thirteen Ao Bao. Listening to the elderly, in the past, when the temple fair was held on June 15 every year, people from dozens of miles around came here to hold Ao Bao meetings. In addition to the Ao Bao Festival, the Ao Bao Festival also holds wrestling, horse racing, archery and other competitions, and the scene is very lively. The great Buddha in the temple not only sent people to participate in the competition, but also took out some items to reward everyone.

On the day of the Ao Bao Meeting, before dawn, the princes, nobles, and officials of the whole banner led by the Mongolian Zhen Wangye wore gorgeous costumes and brought their families to the Xinglong Temple in a large cart with pigs, cattle, sheep, as well as rice, noodles, oil, and other offerings; the ordinary people in a radius of dozens of miles also wore bright festive costumes and came to the temple in an endless stream. Vendors inside and outside the temple are gathered, traffic is busy, crowds are crowded, and the whole temple is as lively as a festival. After the lamas finished chanting the sutra in the temple, they came to Ao Bao Mountain to worship Ao Bao. The decorated Ao Bao was covered with pine branches, several wooden poles were also tied with prayer flags and various colors of "Phoenix Horse Flag", the four corners of the "Solod" were polished, and people placed offerings, hada, milk wine, dairy sacrifices and so on on the offerings in front of the Ao Bao. There are more than eighty lamas at Hing Lung Monastery, dressed in robes and wearing chicken crown hats. The lamas are lined up on the left, and the common people are standing on the right.

The story of Yuan Lantern Schiller and "Ao Bao Rendezvous"

As soon as the temple drum sounded, the chief priest announced the beginning of the sacrifice, first the lamas and monks slammed a Dharma drum, blew the Dharma trumpet to drive away the ghosts, and then the great Buddha led the lamas to sprinkle holy water and grain around Ao Bao while chanting the sutra, and the sacrifice text sang: From the ancestors founded the sacrifice of Ao Bao to this dynasty, generations have been offering to the god of grace and kindness. On the auspicious day of the zodiac in the middle of summer in a certain year of the lunar calendar, all the people gathered in front of Ao Bao to pray together. Now I would like to invite the gods of the world, the gods of heaven and earth, water and soil, and the gods of heaven and earth to shine with brilliance. Solemnly pay tribute to the three prayers and nine prostrations to offer Hada, sing and dance to show respect and affection will be repaid...

After the chanting is completed, everyone walks three times around the Ao Bao from left to right and prostrates. After the ceremony, the competition activities of the Ao Bao Hui began. The first event was the mongolian favorite wrestling competition, in which the wrestlers were all young Mongolians from the villages around myoin-ji Temple, each of whom set up a temporary tent as a resting place for the wrestlers. The Great Buddha of the temple also has his own wrestlers and also participates in wrestling competitions. Officials of the royal palace served as referees, and each wrestler wore a sturdy wrestling suit.

The story of Yuan Lantern Schiller and "Ao Bao Rendezvous"

Legend has it that this year, Wang Ye found a first-class wrestler, named Hatu, who was more than two meters tall, could be regarded as tall and powerful, he had a wonderful wrestling skill, and was a well-known wrestler in mongolia, winning for several consecutive years, no one was invincible. He wears a wrestling suit made of cowhide, which is decorated with shiny copper nails, a round silver mirror in the middle of his back, and his chest is exposed; he wears very fat white pants embroidered with various animal patterns, red, blue and yellow ribbons around his waist, Mongolian boots with flowers on his feet, and a yellow turban wrapped around his head. He jumped on the eagle's step, swinging his arms up and down, making the gesture of an eagle spreading its wings, and jumped into the room. The Great Buddha also chose a wrestler among the lamas, named Bartle, whose attire was different from that of the common people, and his body was decorated with silver scales and jade pieces, shining brightly. He was short and agile, in stark contrast to Hatu. The two men spun along the wrestling field, suddenly attacking forward, suddenly dodging aside, looking for an opportunity, and once they got together, the two immediately twisted and fell with each other, like two tigers fighting each other. Hatu, who was tall and powerful, grabbed the belt of the short and light Bart, picked it up and rotated it constantly, trying to knock the other person unconscious, and then slammed the other person down. Unexpectedly, no matter how Hatu spun and lifted his head, even Hatu himself was exhausted, but when he threw little Bartle to the ground, the little Bart was like taking root under his feet, standing firmly on the ground, like being nailed with nails. Little Bart unexpectedly put his arms around Hatu's knees like lightning, and with a violent blow, Hatu was caught off guard and immediately fell to the ground, and the people watching were stunned. The diminutive Bartle also won consecutive games in the following games. The little lama's wrestling skills were even impressed by the prince, and people were even more amazed.

In the end, the winner is the first cloth helmet, that is, the first place; the second cloth helmet, that is, the second place. Rankings are arranged accordingly, and the lamas give them prizes. The prizes given by The Big Buddha are the same every year, the first place is a sheep, and the second place is a set of cotton fabrics for clothes. The wrestling show ended with a burst of trumpets. This is followed by archery and horse racing. Archery, though popular and the winner, is much less impressive than horse racing. The racecourse is particularly attractive, from Ao Bao Mountain to Xinglong Temple, all a horse Pingchuan grassland, people stand on Ao Bao Mountain to watch the horse racing, look up, the blue sky and white clouds under the green grass is really pleasant. The horse riders are dressed in colorful colored clothes, pedaling high leather boots on their feet, wearing colored scarves on their heads, and ribbons tied around their waists. Horses with red and green silk heads lined up in a row, white, brown, gray... People jumped with joy and appeared particularly heroic. When the order of the race sounds, the riders shake their whips and clap their horses, like off-string arrows, like lightning winds, you chase me and gallop on the grassland. The onlookers cheered and jumped, shouted and shouted, some judged each other, and some bet to see whose horse could win. Both the lamas and the common people were immersed in a state of joy.

After the competition, whether it was the princes and nobles or the poor herdsmen, together with the lamas of the temple, people went to the east barn of the temple to drink porridge. The porridge shed is busy, three large cauldrons are lined up in a row, the cauldron of the congee is called Mangjin Pottery in Mongolian, the cauldron is made of pig iron, the pot is five feet deep, the diameter of the pot mouth is also about five feet, the pot can be filled with more than twenty picks of water, can accommodate a bucket of millet. A porridge made of three hundred pounds of pigs is served in three large pots. The Big Buddha also drinks porridge with everyone, and the homeless and passers-by in the surrounding villages can come to drink porridge once a year, which is also a great good deed of the temple.

When night fell, the Mongol Zhen Prince took his whole family, old and small, and drove away one after another in big cars and small cars. In the villages around the temple, the bonfires are bright, people are singing and dancing, and the melodious sound of horse-head pianos echoes over Yantai's camp.
