Hornbills never change their mates for life and are true love birds! On the Indonesian island of Sumba, the hornbilly is seen as a symbol of loyalty. They have a unique habit of nesting and incubating eggs, and most of them are "couples" raising offspring together. The female corolla crumpled hornbill stays with the nestlars throughout the breeding period, and the male bears the work of feeding the chicks and the female independently, so that by the end of the breeding period, the female and chicks are very fat, while the male is exhausted and very emaciated.
