Shaoxing, 15 Jul (Xinhua) -- In the middle of summer, the sun is like fire, and the archway of the "Guxuan Tingkou" on Jiefang Road in Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, is bustling with people, and the Qiu Jin Martyrs Monument stands majestically. On July 15, 1907, Qiu Jin was only 33 years old at the age of 33 at Xuantingkou. On this day more than 100 years later, many descendants recalled this "JianHu Woman" and revealed her "cross-strait love".
2021 marks the 110th anniversary of the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution. Qiu Jin is a well-known hero of China's modern democratic revolution and one of the "Three Masters of Xinhai" in Shaoxing.

"Qiu Jin is a hero who closely links the mainland and Taiwan, and she is a spiritual link connecting the two sides of the strait." Early in the morning of July 15, Qiu Jin's maternal nephew and 85-year-old retired teacher Qiu Jingwu went to Xuantingkou to commemorate his ancestors, and he confided to the China News Agency reporter that for more than 100 years, Qiu Jin "could not be left alone, and the boys were listed." The spirit of "heart is better than that of a boy and a fierce man" is deeply admired by compatriots on both sides of the strait, and Qiu Jin herself has deep ties with Taiwan.
Qiu Jin's ancestral home is Shaoxing, and when he was a teenager, he accompanied his relatives to Taiwan, Xiamen and other places. Qiu Jingwu said that Qiu Jin followed her mother to Live in Taiwan for several months at the age of 12, and Qiu Jin's daughter Wang Canzhi also settled in Taiwan in her later years until her death in 1967.

In Qiu Jingwu's home, there are several photos of Qiu Jin's life, and there are also a large number of documents studied by later generations to study Qiu Jin. Qiu Jingwu introduced that in order to seek a way to save the country, the 30-year-old Qiu Jin went to Japan alone to study, and then met Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing and others, and joined the China League Association.
"Qiu Jin's patriotic spirit and feminist ideology have had a profound impact on both sides of the strait and even the world." After his retirement, Qiu Jingwu devoted himself to the study of Qiu Jin's characters and their spirit. He introduced that over the years, experts and scholars from Taiwan and the United States, Japan, Russia, Australia and other countries and regions have gone to Shaoxing to pay respects to Qiu Jin, and the most they talk about and study is the feminist ideology advocated by Qiu Jin.

"Shaoxing is the place where Qiu Jin lived and fought. The first time I went to Shaoxing, I went to visit Qiu Jin's former residence. Taiwan compatriot Xu Zhiwei is engaged in the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Shaoxing, and in her heart, Qiu Jin is like an "idol".
"I have known Qiu Jin in my texts since I was a child, she is a pioneer of the Chinese women's liberation movement, and the idea of equality between men and women advocated by her has benefited our whole family very much." Xu Zhiwei also hoped that the two sides of the strait could inherit and carry forward the immortal spirit of the revolutionary ancestors through more people-to-people exchanges.
In fact, the continuation of the spirit of Qiu Jin between the two sides of the strait has never changed, and Qiu Jin is like a link, tying compatriots on both sides of the strait closely together. In 2009, the modern drama "Qiu Jin" of Shaoxing Opera went to Taiwan to perform, and opera performers from the mainland used traditional Chinese art to tell the tragic history of Qiu Jin before qiu Jin's righteousness; in the same year, the Shaoxing Qiu Jin Research Association also organized 40 calligraphy and painting works related to Qiu Jin to be exhibited in Taiwan...

"The two sides of the strait have the same roots and the same origin since ancient times, and Qiu Jin is a pioneer that compatriots on both sides of the strait jointly admire." Jin Yan, president of the Shaoxing Qiujin Research Association, said in an interview, "I hope that by strengthening the exchange of Qiu jin spirit, we will jointly promote the prosperity of folk culture on both sides of the strait." ”
Today, Qiu Jingwu, who is full of white hair and has passed his old age, still serves as an artistic consultant for the Yue opera "Jian Hu Fengyun". "Art is an important carrier for carrying forward the spirit of our ancestors." According to its introduction, in order to commemorate Qiu Jin, the crew has been rearranging the play for several days, and the perfected Yue opera drama will be staged at the end of July.
At the mouth of the Guxuan Pavilion on that day, from time to time, the public stopped to pay respects.
