On the same day, the opening ceremony of the first phase of the "Field Archaeology Work Procedures Training Course" of the Shanxi Archaeological Research Institute was held at the same time as the ruins of Pujindu and Puzhou Ancient City in Yongji. Song Jianzhong, secretary of the Branch Committee of the Archaeological Research Center of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Zhao Hui, vice chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society and professor of the School of Archaeology and Archaeology of Peking University, Bai Xuebing, director of the Cultural Relics Department of the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, Wang Xiaoyi, president of the Shanxi Archaeological Research Institute, and Wang Daqi, deputy director of the Yuncheng Cultural Protection Center, jointly inaugurated the Yongji Base of the Shanxi Archaeological Research Institute.

The ruins of the ancient city of Puzhou are located in the territory of Puzhou Town, west of Yongji City. The site is divided into two cities, east and west, with an east-west length of 2.49 kilometers, a north-south width of 1.71 kilometers, and an area of 4.26 square kilometers. In 2001, it was announced by the State Council as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and in 2013, it was included in the second batch of national archaeological site park construction project list.

Previously, the Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute continued to carry out archaeological work on the ruins of the ancient city of Puzhou, and found the Tang Dynasty strata in the Dongcheng And the remains of the walls of the Puzhou Ancient City from the Northern Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty in the northwest of the Xicheng.

Liu Yan, vice president of the Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute, said that the future work of the Puzhou Ancient City Site should solve the problem of the extension of the city wall and the city circle, and then solve the macro layout problems such as the city gate and the road, so as to provide more evidence for Pujindu and Puzhou Ancient City National Archaeological Site Park.

"The Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute and Yongji City jointly built the Yongji Archaeological Base, which is not only a witness of history, but also the needs of cultural relics and archaeology in the new era." Wang Xiaoyi, president of the Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute, said that this is conducive to further research on local historical relics, promote the protection and utilization of archaeological resources, boost local economic development, and promote cultural self-confidence.

According to the "Puzhou FuZhi", the ancient city of Puzhou is eight meters high and 1,600 steps in circumference, and is the largest ancient city in Shanxi. In the 1950s, it was abandoned due to the relocation of administrative institutions and the storage of floods in Sanmenxia.

Cui Zilong, a member of the party group of yongji municipal government, introduced that Yongji has launched the protection and utilization of the ruins of Pujindu and Puzhou Ancient City in recent years, and previously implemented cultural relics protection projects and infrastructure construction projects such as the eastern section of the northern city wall of Puzhou Ancient City, the West Gate Urn City, the Drum Tower, the East Gate Urn City, the West City Wall, and the Outer City East City Wall, which laid a solid foundation for the construction of Pujindu and Puzhou Ancient City National Archaeological Site Park.

Cui Zilong said that in the next step, Yongji will accelerate the construction of Pujindu and Puzhou Gucheng National Archaeological Site Parks, and strive to build the heritage park into a landmark building for cultural tourism in Yongji, Yuncheng, and even Shanxi Province. (End)
