Nandu: Why, under the low tide, can you be so insistent and love the career of an actor?
Bao Qijing: Or maybe I'm a bit silly stubborn. I feel that any difficulties are temporary. I've been lucky enough to work in big companies, either ATV or TVB. Some friends do not work in large institutions, he is an independent actor, will encounter more difficulties, when there is no work, will doubt their own value: I did not work, is there a problem with me? Is my play not good enough? He will be confused of one kind or another.
I would love to say to my friends in this line of work: every actor has his great brilliance and role. Of course, many times, maybe my timing has not yet arrived. Some people say, "In my life, this timming has not arrived!" "It doesn't matter, we as an actor, always be prepared for ourselves, if there is any bit of work to hit me, I have to try to play to the best of my ability, this is where we meet and succeed. Bao Qijing: Of course, this movie has a profound meaning for me personally. Suddenly, at the age of 60, I was admitted, sure you had some grades, and sure you were acting better. There are a lot of old actors like me, they were very happy when I won the award, I remember Siqi sister (Li Siqi) the most, I don't know her very well, she saw me and shouted happily: "Abao, I am really happy for you!" "It was as if she had won the prize. Do you understand that feeling? For our generation of old actors, powerful actors, this award has some encouraging effect, God does not pay off, as long as we work hard. Nandu: Will you cooperate with director Xu Anhua again? Your tacit understanding and expression of women's themes make us very moved.

I feel like it's just a transitional period and I'm always hopeful about my acting career. Because society will always need art, art has a great influence on people's lives, and it will never die. We need to follow along the way and see how we can move in a good direction and a broader future.
Nandu: Would you like to meet a good movie like "Day and Night in Tin Shui Wai" again? Hope that there will be some deep digging in the theme of women and the theme of expressing ordinary people in Hong Kong?
Bao Qijing: I was lucky this year to make a film with a female theme in Fujian ("The Gods Are Watching"), playing a "Minnan Grandma"; in the future, I will also make a movie in Guangdong, I play a mother-in-law with old age dementia, cooperate with the Taibao, tell a father-in-law how to take care of her mother-in-law, create a pastoral life for her, until the mother-in-law leaves, is a very romantic story. Nandu: Are you optimistic about the cooperation and exchange of filmmakers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area? What are your expectations for GBA films?
Bao Qijing: I think that working together to make a film in the Greater Bay Area requires everyone to work together. If it is technical cooperation, it is actually no problem, but how to cooperate in all aspects of the story and the team? This is the key. Cinema reflects reality, in the 80s in Hong Kong, there are films that reflect the 80s in Hong Kong; today, our films can show a wider reality. Many of the films we make now do not reflect reality much, because many people have long been walking on both sides of the mainland and Hong Kong, working on both sides, communicating on both sides, and we have only made these realistic (Bay Area) stories very later, and I believe that we can create some better (Bay Area) stories in the future.
Of course, there is a lot of room for development in the greater bay area films, but it depends on so many of us working together. I hope that the films in the Greater Bay Area can get the support of relevant parties, for example, the Hong Kong government has a lot of support for Hong Kong films, many Hong Kong small-budget films are basically supported by the government, although the budget is smaller, but there are also many good works emerging. Therefore, I think that the films in the Greater Bay Area need the cooperation of relevant parties and the support of all parties, and there will definitely be good works.
Nandu: The two women's films you recently made are actually Greater Bay Area films.
Bao Qijing: The cooperation between the two places must be a Film of the Greater Bay Area. The exchange of technology, I believe, has begun, in the film content, we can have more space to create. Bay Area movies are just around the corner.

Bao Qijing: I never said I wouldn't work, I was always waiting for work. I happened to be in England when I picked up the show, at my daughter's place. Producer Wang Xinwei called and said, "There is a play about a mother who works hard to pull up her eldest children, do you like it?" "I said yes, it's funny, this play has a bit of a comedy, I was very happy, and I immediately agreed to pick it up."
Nandu: You played a lot of roles as loving mothers, what is the difference between this mother Luo Meilan in the play?
Bao Qijing: This Luo Meilan is really different from the mother I played before, many of them were loving mothers or very miserable mothers in the past, but Luo Meilan is a very special and joyful mother. She is very optimistic, in the face of different difficulties of her children, she has their own ways to deal with them, this mother is very naughty, very cute. I'm more lively myself, and sometimes when I talk, people around me laugh and say I'm humorous and I can handle some of the more relaxed characters.

Bao Qijing: Yes, I believe that every mother has a profound experience. Then the children will tell us what is on their minds, we can help them solve it, and there is not an unequal relationship between us. I think that now as a mother, I should not interfere too much with my children, just like in the play, I will not interfere too much with them, although I constantly care about them, but I do not interfere with their lives, they have their own problems to solve, and my mother can only encourage and help them from them.
Nandu: Many young actors have played your children, how do you get along with them?
Bao Qijing: I have a great feeling about filming this drama, I have filmed a lot of scenes, there are many children in it, but this time these children are particularly caring, Ma Dezhong, Tang Shiyong, Wang Junxin, Che Wanwan, Yang Ming, Hu Yu, we have no diaphragm as soon as we came, we all sighed what fate makes us have such a good relationship, after filming for a year, until now we continue to contact, meet, chat, we have a group, everyone knows what the other party is busy with, encourage each other, they all shout at me in the group: "Mom, when are you free." My life is very simple now, sports, running, buying vegetables and cooking, when I am not working, I am no different from an ordinary old man, nothing special at all.
