Are primary and secondary schools laying off English teachers? Learning English well is not optional but mandatory

In recent days, a hot search has popped up, saying that "many schools have significantly reduced English teachers", I don't know if you see it?

Controversy over the status of the English language is whipped several times a year by certain representatives and experts, and Chang Fan asks me in the background what I think. What do I think? It's said so many times before that I'm too lazy to comment now.

But why do I still have to write today, because yesterday a parent group I was in actually discussed this matter for an afternoon——

"The English teachers have been laid off, what else do you learn English?"

"I saw Wa's English teacher yesterday, she is not in a good mood, could it be that she received the news of layoffs?"

"It is estimated that English will not be the main subject status in the future, don't force children to learn English."

"It's nice to make time to learn something else."

"English teachers are going to lose their jobs!"

"If you can't learn it in school, please recommend extracurricular classes."

……

Everyone was discussing hotly, some people supported and some were opposed, and some were confused, but no one questioned whether this would be fake news!

Want to lay off an English teacher, it's a matter of moving your mouth?

Perhaps there have been too many news about layoffs in large factories and private companies in recent years, which has led everyone to draw the conclusion that "it is easy to lay off English teachers". But think about it, what kind of school will lay off English teachers?

Let's talk about international schools, they will not move to lay off English teachers such a "crooked mind" at all, they want to recruit the best English teachers to expand their horizons for children, so that they can apply to good universities around the world, right?

What about private schools? It's also unlikely, why should a good person lay off a teacher? Because the high school entrance examination is not taken? Because the new curriculum standard has lowered the requirements for English, no, in the new curriculum of the compulsory education stage promulgated last year, the requirements for the amount of words and listening, speaking, reading and writing are more, and they are also higher! In that case, why should the school lay off teachers? Even if they are cut, those parents who give up free public schools and choose to pay high prices to let their children go to private schools will not agree!

Finally, there are public schools, in addition to the reasons mentioned above, don't forget that the teachers of public schools are all a turnip and a pit, and there is a preparation. The power of the principal of a public primary school is actually not as great as we think, and it is impossible to lay off whoever we want. The right to allocate personnel and the right to control finances are all in the Education Bureau, and it takes a lot of effort to transfer teachers, not to mention layoffs!

Therefore, whether logically or realistically, it is impossible for "many schools" to cut English teachers on a "large scale". Even if one or two schools do this, they are not used to generalize, it is likely that people make adjustments based on their own circumstances, and they are not representative of the general trend of the city or the whole country.

So ah, you know, some marketing numbers do everything in order to gain eyeballs and earn traffic. I can't manage anything else, but Chang Fan really has to polish his eyes, don't blindly believe these, otherwise it will delay the child, and it will be useless to regret the intestines at that time!

How difficult is it to learn English in the future?

In fact, the Haidian Huangzhuang, where my home is located, and the circles around us can be seen with the naked eye, and everyone is paying more and more attention to English. Let's just say that some English tests are not banned in China, they will organize groups to Singapore or other Asian countries or regions to take the test, as for the reason to understand, and the cost and effort paid can only increase and cannot be reduced.

This pressure comes from itself, but also from schools, many schools have increased their English teaching - guess why?!

For example, I have the children of various colleagues in the second year of junior high school in Haidian, where their grades have soared in recent years, and the teacher assigned a task as soon as this semester started:

Memorize ancient poems in English.

English teachers put together ancient poems in Chinese and English, and asked students to know both Chinese and English. This is the first time that the school has asked students to do this, because of a change in the new English course standard for the college entrance examination last year:

In addition to language ability, English also emphasizes the cultivation of cultural awareness, displays excellent Chinese and foreign cultures, and enhances cultural confidence and cross-cultural communication and comprehension skills.

This means that the requirements of college entrance examination English for children have been upgraded from simple test taking to application, and the difficulty is higher!

So, now seeing similar "revelations" from bloggers, saying that "Beijing began to cut English teachers" and "English teachers teach labor classes in addition to English classes", does it feel like a child's play?

But in fact, when the reporter interviewed some senior teachers on the current rumors, the teacher said very pertinently: the current English class teaching is engaged in curriculum integration, which is to combine English with labor classes, music classes, and Taoist classes, so that English becomes an application tool rather than a test-taking subject, which can be really said and used by children in real life.

It's a pity that most parents may not read so many words, but only focus on a thrilling title, and then start to make up their brains, spread falsehoods, and finally spread beyond recognition, and they still grit their teeth.

I believe that regular fans have long known that if you want to give your children more choices in the future, learning English well is not optional but a must. Especially most of our children from ordinary families should seize all available resources to learn English and strive for a better future for themselves and their loved ones.

As for whether to learn English or not, to be honest, there have been various rumors coming out almost every three or five years ago, and we used to write articles to refute them, but now I really don't want to discuss them anymore. No need, really no need.

Guo Degang once said a passage, the original words are like this:

I said to rocket experts, your rocket is not good, the fuel is not good, I think you have to burn firewood, it is better to burn coal, coal must also be selected coal, washing coal with water will not work. If the scientist looked at me squarely, he lost.

Therefore, every day this proposal and that proposal, more times he will count me as losing, anyway, the fans who have been with me for a long time have long known how to learn, and the children have long been on the road.

At the end of the article, I ask everyone: what do you think about this? Let's have a chat in the comments section!
