Gao Ya Nei temple teased Lin's wife, and Lin Chong thought that he was the righteous son of his superior, Gao Qi, and could not bear to swallow it. Lu Zhishen, who had just worshipped Lin Chong in the temple, wanted to take Gao Yunei's life, and Lin Chong considered his own career and held down the weapon in his brother's hand.

The coincidence of names on and off the stage is the most obvious symbol, pointing to the similarity between him and Lin Chong's fate. Shi En was like a mountain, pressing him like Lin Chong's only order to accept the master's violation and abuse of his body; the drama class was like a family, for the sake of the family's livelihood, he let Kuo Shao Huang Zilei buy out his body and freedom, comparable to Lu Qian who had been hiding behind Lin Chong to make trouble.
Therefore, going to the stage to borrow Lin Chong's mouth to shout loudly became the only way for "Lin Chong" to relieve his inner resentment. In the 1928 silent film "Leopard Head Lin Chong" directed by ren Pengnian, an early Chinese filmmaker, the 1958 film "Lin Chong" co-directed and starring Comfort and Wu Yonggang, the 1962 Peking Opera film "Wild Boar Forest" directed by Cui Wei and Chen Huaigao, written and starred by a generation of Peking Opera master Li Shaochun, and the 1972 film "Lin Chong Night Run" produced by Shaw and starring Yue Hua, Lu Zhishen was not only an excellent brother, but also a beacon that pointed out the direction of Liangshan for Lin Chong.

However, in the 1993 Hong Kong film "The Heroic Nature of Water Margin", The Relationship between Leung Ka Fai and Xu Jinjiang, played by Lin Chong and Lu Zhishen, respectively, is somewhat unusual. Lin Chong "snubbed" Wang Zuxian's beautiful wife, indulging in a competition with Lu Zhishen. The plot of the two hitting the bed from the ground to the bed and then into the family bath leaves the audience with room for imagination. Lu Zhishen saved Lin Chong in the wild boar forest, and almost made the act of licking the sores on his feet, which was even more imaginative. However, related to the gag elements in Hong Kong commercial films in the same period, this ambiguous or even vulgar plot design may not be intentional by the creator, but just a comedic effect deliberately created in line with the market trend.

But in the movie "Night Run", the relationship between "Lin Chong" and Shaodong does not have any joke nature. When Shaodong, who has been immersed in cello art in the United States for many years, allows his fiancée Ying'er to drag and enjoy kunqu operas that are not very interested, he is attracted by the desolate and heroic voice of Wusheng "Lin Chong", and the possibility of the convergence of Eastern and Western music indicates that the love between the two will unfold on a spiritual level. Shao Dong watched several performances in a row and became the "fan brother" of "Lin Chong", pulling Ying Er to find him to worship the teacher, and slowly playing the flute of the accompaniment instrument of Kunqu Opera. After that, he and "Lin Chong" snuggled up at the mouth of the Great Wall, listening to "Lin Chong" three words and two words can explain the life of the end, he incarnated as a "brother", like Lu Zhishen, who helped Lin Chong plan the future, corrected the self-positioning of the "Lin Chong" play against the open scenery, encouraged him to be brave to be an artist, and made "Lin Chong" aware of the value of existence.

This rare bright color in his life made him confirm his love for Shaodong, but it was not enough to illuminate his future path, and he chose to return to Huang Zilei's side. Until he met Shaodong unexpectedly in the public bath, he decided to break the emotional shackles that Huang Zilei put on him, but Shaodong was not ready to combine with his spirit and flesh (it seems that because Shaodong has a guilt in his heart, but in fact, he does not dare to face himself, before "Lin Chong" lit a cigarette, he put the cigarette butt over, and the picture of a match lighting two cigarettes shows everything). On the night of heavy snowfall, Shaodong's "one back turn" makes the two "both life and death", and lets the fate trajectory of "Lin Chong" slide further towards Lin Chong.

It is regrettable that "Lin Chong" and Shao Dong's turn around missed, but if love is discussed alone, as Huang Zilei's lifelong love, to some extent, he is lucky. Huang Zilei's initial love for "Lin Chong" had a certain forced buying component, but after "Lin Chong" disappeared, his search for the whole world undoubtedly broadened the audience's understanding of "unswerving". Think of Yuan Shiqing in "Farewell to the Overlord", even if his words are beautiful, he finally abandoned Cheng Dieyi when he encountered a catastrophe in his life.

Perhaps because of the careful reading of Huang Zilei's sincerity, "Lin Chong" did not abandon the sloppy and sleepy Huang Zilei in his own unsafe chaotic world, but on the contrary did his best to take care of him. At the moment when the economy was at its most difficult, "Lin Chong" even took Shaodong to give to Ying'er, and Ying'er gave him Shaodong's souvenirs, and a mini cello made of crystal glass entered the pawnshop. Fortunately, the pawnshop owner believes that the violin has no pawn value. It was not until Huang Zilei was sent away that "Lin Chong" embarked on a journey to the United States in the form of smuggling. It's just that heaven and earth are ruthless, and it is his ashes that finally meet Shaodong.
What is comforting is that the crystal violin is swirling around and back into Shaodong's hands, and the flute given to Shaodong by "Lin Chong" has become a pair of "lovers" who will never be separated again, accompanying Shaodong to slowly grow old.

At that time, Shaodong was living a life of dependence on the cello in New York, and had never met his fiancée Ying'er who was far away in Tianjin, but the two Feihong had been passing on books for a long time and were already familiar with each other. "Lin Chong" followed the opera class and took advantage of the night to rush from Beijing to Jinmen, hoping to gain a foothold in the city known as the "big wharf of opera".

The past emerges, Shaodong and Ying'er's gentle voiceover sound, and the content of their letters is revealed to the audience, bringing out Ying'er's identity as a participant in the triangle relationship while watching. She and Shaodong are more willing to see each other as confidants than lovers, and both of them unconsciously fall in love with "Lin Chong". But "Lin Chong" only regarded Ying'er as a confidant, and gave all his love to Shaodong. The three of them are together, happy to accompany each other, and a seed of love quietly sprouts behind the simple Ying'er. Until the newspaper openly strangled this flower of love, Ying Er suddenly realized that she had been playing the role of a female supporting actress, and at the same time in front of the audience of the two male protagonists.

Ying Er was obsessed with Kunqu opera and once wrote to Shao Dong that he was "willingly floating in a fictional world". However, the story of Shaodong and "Lin Chong" is not "loyalty and love on the stage", she must face reality. If you follow the routine of popular drama, Ying Er should probably question the two hysterically. But she only briefly fired a fire at the fleeing "Lin Chong". She gave the crystal violin that Shaodong gave her to "Lin Chong", and then gave the latter's flute to Shaodong, taking the initiative to restore her friendship with Shaodong. After meeting "Lin Chong", who had changed his name to "Zhang Chong", she acted as a "postman" for the two to talk about their thoughts and feelings. Upon learning of the death of "Lin Chong", who went to the United States to find Shaodong, she came to Shaodong's side again, mourned with him for the two lovers in common, and "completed" the marriage contract between the two with him.
As a result, Ying Er let Shao Dong understand what providence is to make people, and his psychological guilt for Ying Er and "Lin Chong" was transformed into calmness. Sitting in front of the tombstones of the three people, Shao Dong answered the stranger's curiosity with "One buried here is my wife, and the other is my lover" to answer the stranger's curiosity. "Looking home" is no longer "going to the road", the souls of the three of them have each other in a foreign country.
Combined with the opening of the ending recall, the brushstrokes of Shaodong of different generations on the bus "looking at each other in the air" (after the lens of the elderly Shaodong smiling and looking forward, it seems to sense something) The brushstrokes of the teenager Shaodong looking back at him have actually shown that Shaodong, who has come to the end of his life, has reconciled with himself. Only if the audience wants to watch the whole film, will they understand the gentle power of Ying'er.
This kind of treatment that allows women to silently swallow the bitter fruits of life, and let them make up for the broken and appropriate, runs through Wang Huiling's script creation. Wang Huiling's three scripts for Ang Lee are all like this. The seemingly rebellious second daughter in "Eating Men and Women" bought a house with many of her complicated memories from her father, so that the family dismembered by the times was coated with glue. Annette Lu in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", endured the grief and let the Yujiao dragon who indirectly killed Li Mubai go to Wudang Mountain to reunite with Luo Xiaohu. Wang Jiazhi in "The Ring of Color |", with a soft heart at the end of the day, sent a reminder to Mr. Yi to escape. Even in the "Legend of the Demon Cat", co-written by Wang Huiling and Chen Kaige, Yang Yuhuan, the symbol of the prosperous era of the Tang Dynasty, is willing to use his own death to prevent the decline of the empire.
