Is "opinion" important for a woman?
Watching Pride and Prejudice, we can find that no matter in what era, opinion and reason are not necessarily indispensable for a woman, but they must be indispensable for achieving happiness.
Marriage is an important choice in life. What kind of person you choose is equivalent to choosing a way of life, and the rest of your life will be closely related to this choice.
Therefore, in dealing with this important choice, we must have opinions, sincerity, and even more determination.
The book "Pride and Prejudice" mainly describes the story of Elizabeth, the second daughter of the squire, and Mr. Darcy, who came from the nobility, from acquaintance to acquaintance, to Elizabeth to put down prejudice, Darcy to put down arrogance, and finally the two fell in love and finally became a family.
But it also exposes the fact that women have an opinion, how important it is.
Elizabeth comes from a middle-class background and has five daughters in the family. Although her views on marriage are not described positively in the book, her two refusals to propose and her antipathy to her mother's and sister's behavior show that she opposed marriage for the sake of marriage.
Elizabeth's first refusal was the heir to her father's property.
When Mr. Collins, a distant relative of the Bennett family, proposed to her as if in a gesture of grace, Elizabeth did not hesitate to refuse.
Elizabeth does not love Mr. Collins, and knows that she will not fall in love with this old-fashioned and flattering man in the future. Although marrying him would ensure her prosperity and comfort for the rest of her life, she still refused.
The second time was Mr. Darcy, who was arrogant and had a winning mentality.
His mentality was normal, for in that era women who could reject a marriage proposal from a handsome and extremely wealthy man like him were almost non-existent. But Elizabeth did not hesitate to firmly refuse.
At that time, she still had a deep prejudice against Darcy and hated his arrogance.
To sum up, there is still one reason - not to love.
I don't love you, so no matter who you are or how rich you are, I won't marry you.
Author Jane Austen makes it clear in this book that the ideal marriage must be based on the feelings of both men and women.
So in the end Elizabeth unravels her misunderstanding of Mr. Darcy and falls in love with him after learning that he has helped her sister and family.
So when Mr. Darcy's aunt, Mrs. Catherine, arbitrarily demanded that she not marry Mr. Darcy, she firmly and courageously stated that no one could sway her decision.
Elizabeth and Darcy are ultimately happy because they are in love.
Because they love each other, they cross the class gap and let go of their pride and prejudice.
Behind this happiness is the result of Elizabeth's assertive choice. Rather than following the advice of parents or being confused by suitors.
It can be seen that "opinion" is not so important for a woman, but it is really too important for a woman who pursues "the happiness she wants".
