Amy Adams

She has an unforgettable charm; Her performances are restrained and reflect many human qualities. She is Amy Adams.

Early life

Amy Adams was born in Vicenza, Italy in 1974. Both parents are American. There are six siblings in the family. At the time, her father was stationed with U.S. troops at the Casema Edler military base in Vicenza, Italy. She later settled in Castle Rock, Colorado, when she was 8 years old.

After his father retired from the army, he worked as an performer in nightclubs and restaurants. Adams said going to her father's show and drinking Shaulan Temple at a bar were her fondest childhood memories. Their family was poor at the time, but the family often camped together, hiked together, and performed amateur sketches together, usually written by her father and sometimes by her mother. Adams was passionate about these plays and always played the main role.

After her parents divorced, her father moved to Arizona to remarry while the children remained with their mother. Her mother became a semi-professional bodybuilder, taking her kids to the gym while exercising. Adams compares her unruly early years and her siblings to Lord of the Flies, describing herself as a "combative, strong child" who she says often fights with other children.

Adams attended Douglas County High School. She was not outstanding academically, but was interested in creating art and joined the school's choir. During this time, she competed in athletics and gymnastics competitions and aspired to become a ballet dancer and apprentice with the local David Taylor Dance Company. She didn't like high school and didn't spend most of her time with people. After graduation, she and her mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she did not attend college, which disappointed her parents, who later regretted not continuing her higher education.

At the age of 18, Adams realized she wasn't talented enough to become a professional ballet dancer and found musicals to suit her tastes better. One of her first stage roles was in the community theater production of Annie.

In order to make a living, Adams worked as a volunteer, working as a greeter at a Gap shop and a waiter at a restaurant, but she quit after saving enough money to buy a used car.
