The Dinka tribe is the largest ethnic tribe in South Sudan and, along with the Tutsis of Rwanda, is considered the tallest in Africa. The average height of the Dinka tribe is 180.34cm. Because of this, many Dinka people are recruited to play basketball around the world, especially in the United States, whether college or professional. The most successful was Rohrddeng, who, like many other Dinkas, grew up outside of what is now South Sudan, when his family fled the Sudanese civil war in Roerdhan's youth. Before attending high school in the United States, he grew up in the UK and played college basketball at the legendary Duke University.
