Ma Mingqun, born in 1936 in Hubei, was admitted to the Xiqu Experimental School of the Xiqu Improvement Bureau of the Ministry of Culture (the predecessor of the China Academy of Performing Arts) in 1950, where he studied under Hou Xirui, Song Futing, Sun Shengwen, Li Chunheng, Li Zigui, Zhou Yibai and other teachers. At that time, the school had more than 40 fulian chengshe experts teaching at the school, and most of the teachers were face-to-face, one-on-one professors.
In the drama school, Ma Mingqun learned to clean the line, copper hammer, shelf two doors.

Ma Mingqun's representative repertoire mainly includes "Ode to longjiang", "Drunken Mountain Gate", "Yao Period", "General Xianghe", "Li Qichangting", "Drumming and Cursing Cao", "Empty City Plan", "Changshanpo", "Playing Dragon Robe", "Ancient City Society", "True and False Li Kui", "Xu Mu Scolding Cao", "Caolu Ji" and so on.
Today, Ma Mingqun's veteran artists are 86 years old. But don't look at the old age, he still has a special love for Beijing drama, such as in July 2021, he came to Guizhou Peking Opera House to direct teaching, for young actors Ma Hongguang, Wan Linfeng personally taught "True and False Li Kui", "Niu Gao Xia Shu" and other works. In September, he came to Guizhou again to collect Ma Hongguang and Wan Lin Feng.
