Lakers-Knicks-Jazz recently entered into talks on a three-way deal involving Westbrook and Mitchell
According to league insiders, the Lakers have been in contact with the Jazz and Knicks for a potential three-team deal to send Russell Westbrook to Utah and Donovan Mitchell to New York.
To settle the salary issue, the Knicks will have to send players (probably Derrick Rose and Obi-Topping) to two teams, while the Jazz will send at least two players (possibly a mix of Bojan Bogdanovic, Patrick Beverly, Jordan Clarkson and Malik) to the Lakers. If the deal does work out, the Jazz will reportedly buy out Westbrook. Their first priority is to get a large number of draft picks from the Lakers and Knicks.
The report also said that the Lakers have previously shown interest in the Knicks' Reddish. As for New York, the Knicks have previously shown interest in Bisley. If the three teams can reach a deal, it will certainly be interesting to keep a close eye on whether the Lakers can actually get Redish or whether the Knicks can really get Beasley.
As of now, however, the three teams have not finalized any deals. Naturally, the Jazz want Mitchell to make a handsome income. Rumor has come that they asked the Knicks for three players and six draft picks last month. Meanwhile, other teams that want Westbrook have discussed their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks with the Lakers. As of now, though, there have been several reports claiming that the Lakers are reluctant to give up more than one first-round pick in the former MVP deal. As a result, the Lakers, Jazz and Knicks need to address this before any agreement is reached.
