Apple Daily announced Taiwan's highest-paid singer in the first half of 2022. Due to the suspension of concerts and tours due to the pandemic, most of their income comes from endorsements. Still, the numbers are impressive, especially for Jay Chou, who has finished second in the last two years.
Although only half a year has passed, Jay, 42, has already earned NT$460 million (S$21.4 million) from 11 endorsement transactions, equivalent to his total income in 2021.
That's not counting the sales of his new album, Greatest Works Of Art, which has sold more than 4.82 million digital copies since its release on July 15.
Sales of digital albums alone are reportedly estimated at nt.6 billion US dollars (S$27.9 million). Jiaqing!
2nd place: Jam Hsiao S$7.9 million
Jam Hsiao, who earned the highest income last year, came in second with NT$170 million (S$7.9 million). In recent years, Jam has focused on growing his F&B business in China. In addition to endorsement contracts, his income also comes from acting and reality TV shows.
3rd place: Jolin Tsai 3.8 million
In third place is Jolin Tsai, 41. In addition to creating her new album, Jolin Tsai has received eight endorsement contracts and is currently the face of products such as toothpaste, contact lenses and indoor perfumes. In total, she earned about NT$80 million (S$3.8 million).
4th place: Ella Chen S$1.9 million
Ella Chen definitely looks like she's becoming the Queen of Endorsements. After becoming a mom, SHE membership became a popular choice for advertisers to endorse a variety of products. This year alone, Ella, 41, received endorsement deals for milk powder, robotic vacuum cleaners and massage chairs, earning $40 million (S$1.9 million) in revenue.
5th place: Tian Fuzhen 4.4 million S$4.4 million
In the top five is Tian Fuzhen, who is also a member of SHE, and she has been busy since winning the Golden Melody Award for Best Female Singer (Chinese) last year. Although the 39-year-old had to postpone her Kaohsiung concert in May due to the pandemic, she still earned NT$20 million (S$927,000) from four endorsement deals.
