On the morning of July 14, Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy Reisay said that the gold refinery located in the "Ukvo" area of Gesema County, Mondogiari Province, has refined 3274 kilograms of gold so far after about a year of operation.
Minister Reisai said Australia's Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Limited was authorized by the Cambodian government to mine gold in the "Ukvo" area of Gesema County, Mondogiri Province, and its gold refinery was officially put into operation on June 21, 2021.
Ndibera, director of the General Directorate of Mines of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, said that a total of 8 companies in Cambodia have obtained mineral development licenses wholesaled by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, of which 4 companies have completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), 1 company has just started mining operations, and another 3 companies are installing equipment.
He stressed that while mining gold mines to extract underground natural resources to serve the country's social and economic development, the Royal Government is also highly responsible for protecting the ecological environment and social interests.
