Main structure
The Mk 45 naval gun installation is divided into a superstructure above deck and a substructure below deck: the superstructure includes gun barrels, skateboard components, gun mounts, turrets, upper pressure storage systems, turrets and shot hole guard plates; The substructure is composed of two down-lifting machines, a drum, a fuze-measuring machine, an uplift bombing machine and a lower pressure storage system. Among them, the turret is cast from aluminum material and is the base of the entire superstructure. The firing hole guard is movable, and when the gun is aimed and fired, it defines the high and low firing boundaries of the gun, and at the same time is the hole where the barrel and shell exit.

The Mk 45 naval gun can fire semi-active laser-guided missiles to improve the probability of hits, and has the ability to automatically select six ammunition types around the clock, improving the response speed against different targets. The naval gun is capable of firing seven types of artillery shells, including thin-walled blast grenades (HC), yellow phosphorus smoke grenades (WP), flare flares (SS), flare 2 (SS2), high-damage fragmented grenades (HF), semi-active laser-guided artillery shells (SALGP), and infrared guided artillery shells (IRGP); Fuzes can be selected from mechanical time fuzes (MT), controlled time fuzes (CVT), warhead detonation fuzes (PD), warhead detonation delay fuzes (PPD), infrared fuzes (IR), near-detonation or variable-time fuzes (VT), and electronically adjustable fuzes (EST); Gunpowder has standard charge, reduced charge, additional charge, guided artillery shell charge, etc. In the course of its mission, the Mk 45 naval gun can dispense shells, fuzes and charges into various combinations.
