On June 23, 1894, the International Olympic Committee was founded in Paris, representing the birth of the modern Olympic Games. Since 1948, the International Olympic Committee has designated 23 June as International Olympic Day, with the aim of encouraging all people in the world, regardless of gender, age or level of athletic skills, to participate in sports activities. Since 1987, the Chinese Olympic Committee has carried out relevant celebrations around Olympic Day every year, which is an important stage for promoting the Olympic spirit.
In recent years, Futian District has implemented precise policies to ensure the improvement of competitive sports level, and Futian athletes have played well in various competitions at home and abroad, showing a higher, faster, stronger and more united Olympic spirit. Recently, gymnast Wu Ran won two individual gold medals in women's balance beam and free gymnastics at the Asian Gymnastics Championships, and also helped the Chinese women's team win the team championship and lock in the qualification for the World Championships; Lin Qiqi and Huang Hui'er, two female ice hockey players jointly trained, represented Futian in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, achieving a breakthrough of "zero" for Futian athletes to participate in the Winter Olympic Games; In 2021, gymnast Ou Yushan represented the national team at the Tokyo Olympics; Veteran Liu Hong's four appearances in the Olympic Games have become a good story; Futian athletes represented Guangdong in the Shaanxi National Games and won 4 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze; Tennis Kao Xinyu has repeatedly set a new high in the individual WTA world rankings and is currently ranked 71st.

At present, the total area of sports in Futian District is 4.668 million square meters, 2487 sports venues of various types, and the per capita sports area is 3.01 square meters, which is higher than the requirement of 2.6 square meters in Guangdong Province. Futian District has also innovated to create a platform for "one network unified management and one-click reservation" for cultural and sports venues, and 87 school sports venues, 61 social sports venues and 11 public welfare sports venues in the jurisdiction have access platforms to achieve "one-click reservation", effectively creating "sports venues at the doorstep" of the people, and continuously meeting the growing demand for sports and fitness among citizens.

In order to promote the participation of the whole people in sports and fitness, the nine public sports venues in Futian District are open for free for 40 days a year; More than 20,000 cases of physical fitness measurement are completed every year, and more than 93% of the people above the physical fitness level in the whole region are completed; There are more than 6,000 social sports instructors in the district, and more than 300 fitness guidance sessions are organized every year. Futian District holds sports activities around the masses such as "Futian Super League", "National Fitness Festival" and "Greenway Four Seasons Tour" every year, with more than 4,000 activities and covering 600,000 people.
