3. Bai Chongxi attempted to detain the 85th Army again
The 85th Army was a proper unit of the Central Army, which was expanded by Tang Enbo with his own basic unit, the 89th Division, in the early stage of the War of Resistance, and the first commander was Wang Zhonglian, a general of the Tang dynasty.
In the early period of the Liberation War, the 85th Army (the entire 85th Division) had been active in the Central Plains Battlefield, and had participated in the pursuit and blockade of Liu Deng's army and leapt into the Dabie Mountains.
Lieutenant General Wu Shaozhou, the commander of the army at the time, was a Miao, or a Guizhou native, so he didn't have to think about it, and he must have a lot to do with He Yingqin. "This is the president's military order, it is not easy to take back, I can't be in charge, I can't help"! In fact, Bai Chongxi was persecuted by Lao Jiang and Huang Wei, and he had to spit out the 85th Army, and his heart was on fire, but he didn't want Wu Shaozhou to know.
Since the wood had become a boat, Wu Shaozhou had no choice but to obey the order and gather his troops to march eastward, and because the commander was uncomfortable, the 85th Army's movements were grinding and rubbing until November 15, when it reached the front line of Fuyang, Anhui.
At this time, the Battle of Huaihai had already begun, and Huang Wei's vanguard troops were on fire with the People's Liberation Army in Mengcheng! However, by handing over such an elite force to Huang Wei to throw himself into the uncertain "Battle of Xu Beng", Wu Shao was reluctant to do so, so on the way to the march, Wu Shaozhou kept using his connections to dredge up in an attempt to change the original order.
Not to mention, the activity really had a certain effect, on the night of arriving in Fuyang, the military department received a call from Zhang Yi, saying that there was news that the 85th Army had returned to Guangshui Yuanfang, and Commander Wu hurriedly called back to ask for details.
As a result, Zhang Yi's call back made Wu Shaozhou cry and laugh, saying that there was only "internal information" and no formal order, at the same time, Huang Wei's urging telegram also arrived, and the commander of the corps asked the 85th Army to accelerate its advance and quickly return to Mengcheng.
The military order could not be violated, and the "nerd" had to dispose of his own military law, so Wu Shaozhou had no choice but to lead his troops to continue to march eastward and climb into the Huaihai battlefield step by step.

The day after the 85th Army arrived in Mengcheng, Wu Shaozhou unexpectedly received a telegram issued by He Yingqin: "Wu Shaozhou was promoted to commander of the Fourth Corps, the commander of the 85th Army was Liao Yunzhou, the commander of the 110th Division, Liao Yunzhou, and the remaining division commander was promoted by the deputy division commander Yang Liuying."
It turned out that He Yingqin was very particular about this telegram, the 85th Army had previously been included in the combat sequence of the Huang Wei Corps, the troops were approaching the battlefield, and the battle was about to break out, but there was no clear order in the telegram that could be separated from the establishment, just a check that could only be cashed after the war.
In other words, no matter how big an official Wu Shaozhou was, he had to finish this battle, and He Yingqin played the word game to the extreme: I did the matter of entrusting people, and indeed fished out the 85th Army, but the army had already actually participated in the war, and it was necessary to finish the battle, so old Chiang would not pursue it.
Wu Shaozhou was also well versed in battle, and he knew that if the news was announced at this time, it would definitely cause instability in the military, so he ordered that the telegram be handed over to the personnel section of the headquarters for sealing, and instructed that it must be kept confidential.
Then, with a hard head, he led his troops closer to the main force of the Huang Wei Corps, and on November 23, 1948, the main force of the 85th Army arrived at Nanpingji.
Fifth, it almost affected Liao Yunzhou's uprising plan
This tossing process of the 85th Army and the change of Wu Shaozhou's mind, as the commander of the main division of the army, Liao Yunzhou of the Huangpu Fifth Phase was basically understood, and every change made him frightened. In hindsight, the experience of the 85th Army and the fate of the 110th Division were as exciting as a roller coaster.
As early as May 1948, Liao Yunzhou, an underground party member, received a secret instruction from the Central Plains Bureau of our party: the Platon Army should fight a major battle in the near future, and asked the underground party committee of the 110th Division to make all preparations and complete the task of uprising at the necessary time with the help of the PLA.
If it could not be assigned to the Huang Wei Corps to participate in the battle, whether it was under the command of Zhang Yi or incorporated into the formation of the Gui Third Corps, it would be very difficult for the 110th Division to hold an uprising. Even if Liao Yunzhou was promoted to military commander, it was not very significant, because the other two divisions were difficult to master.
The reason is obvious, the ZhangYi group and the Gui clique are not the targets of our two major field armies for the time being, and the 110th Division cannot be effectively responded to, and the risk of a hasty uprising is extremely great.
Only by following the Twelfth Corps into the Huaihai battlefield could the battlefield uprising be launched with the cooperation and response of the People's Liberation Army when the two armies were in contact. The factional tilting within the enemy, Bai Chongxi's dismantling of the platform and wu Shaozhou's operations almost destroyed the 110th Division's uprising plan.
In a sense, it was Huang Wei's persistence and persistence that allowed the 110th Division to smoothly integrate into the Twelfth Corps with the 85th Army, and then step into the Huaihai Battlefield in a justifiable way, and also created an opportunity for a battlefield uprising.

On November 24, 1948, the 85th Army drove from Mengcheng to Zhao Zhuang near Shuangduiji, and Huang Wei had ordered the armies to attack Suxian County.
