This petite, soft and cute looking cat is a rusty spotted ocelot. Most of their bodies are covered with short red-gray hairs, dotted with "rusty" spots on their backs and sides, two dark markings on their cheeks, a circle of white "eyeliner" around their eyes, and four black stripes above them, two of which extend to their necks, and look as majestic as a leopard. They are only 35 to 48 cm long and weigh 0.9 to 1.6 kg. Distributed in southern India and Sri Lanka, it is the smallest wildcat in Asia, and is ranked alongside the black-footed cat of South Africa as one of the smallest wildcats in the world. It feeds mainly on birds and rodents, but also on lizards, insects, and frogs.
