Alatskyvi is a small town in the municipality of Pepsieere in Tartu County, Estonia, located in the southeast of the country, once the administrative center of the former municipality of Aratskyvi, located 170 km southeast of the capital Tallinn, at an altitude of 48 meters, with a population of 430 in 2010.

Alatskivi Castle

Alatskyvi Castle is a Gothic Revival building in the small town of Alatskyvi, in the municipality of Pepcsieere, Tartu County, Estonia, built in the 17th century. The castle was remodeled by Baron Arved von Nolcken at the end of the 19th century based on the British Royal Family's Castle in Balmora in Scotland, and was extensively renovated between 2005 and 2011. The 5 rooms on the first floor of the castle are now the Eduard Toubine Museum. According to records, the Estonian composer composed music here.

Alatskyvi Castle is surrounded by many outbuildings, as well as the largest forest park in Tartu County, covering an area of 130 hectares. The park is the largest park in Tartu County, linden trees, as well as a boulevard linden trees planted along the road. Between the estate and the Alazkivi Nature Reserve, there is a bike path. The boundary of the estate is the Cordesi Forest, where there was once a replica of the "Apollo of the Belvedere", but it has been moved to Cadrio Park in Tallinn.

The castle building is surrounded by many stone houses. In the 19th century, the entire estate had 57 buildings, of which 41 are extant. The buildings are scattered across the four main areas of the estate and are connected by roads. The core area includes the castle itself, the coaching inn and the cheese cellar; the economic area outside the core contains the laundry room, kitchen, stables and shacks; then there is the barn, church, mill and cemetery area; the outermost is the "Apollo of the Belvedere" and the resting place of the Estonian folk legend Kalevi Poeg.
