Estonia has already claimed territory from Russia more than once. Since November 2019, the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, the Minister of the Interior, and others have issued statements on several occasions, openly demanding that Russia return the territory of Estonia, and the area of the claimed territory is not small, reaching 2,000 square kilometers. What is even more surprising is that the attitude of the Estonians is still very tough: if you don't fight back, you will fight!
Where did Estonia get the courage to call for the return of the land to Russia, otherwise it would go to war?
Russia's response to Estonia's claim of land from Russia with the threat and courage to start a war is extremely indifferent, and this is just one of the three Baltic states, in cooperation with NATO's provocations against Russia over the years.
There are historical reasons for this, but also NATO and the United States:
First, Estonia was originally a staunch anti-Russian country, and its accession to the Soviet Union was also a helpless choice made under the coercion of the other side's armed force, and in 1991, it was the first independent of the three Baltic states, which directly led to the disintegration of the Soviet Union. After independence, Estonia actively promoted de-Russification, joined NATO and became a member of the European Union, and now Estonia is completely on the opposite side of Russia.
Second, it has NATO as its backing. The three Baltic states joined NATO in 2004, and NATO has always been hostile to Russia, so Estonia has become a major transportation route for NATO to attack Russia. In the second half of 2019, NATO decided to hold a military exercise codenamed "Defender 2020" in Europe in 2020, according to the plan, the exercise area is mainly concentrated in the three Baltic countries, with a total of 18 participating countries and 37,000 troops, including 20,000 people from the United States and more than 13,000 pieces Xi of equipment. The Americans declared that this was the largest military operation of the US military in 25 years. NATO's military Xi is to test the military's rapid deployment and response capabilities and jointly respond to challenges, and the so-called "challenger" is undoubtedly Russia. Therefore, with the support of NATO, it is not surprising that Estonia, the little brother, dares to pretend to be a tiger in front of Russia.
Third, there is the care of the United States. In recent years, Estonia has dared to confront Russia and fight hard, precisely because of the support of the United States. On the one hand, in order to make Estonia a pawn in suppressing Russia, the United States often gives some encouragement and material assistance, and protects it like a little brother. On the other hand, it wants to further improve its position in the heart of the United States, so that it can be taken care of more by the United States, so it has to perform well.
What will Russia do in the face of Estonia's demands and aggressive attitude? Of course, it will ignore it. Putin has said that not an inch of Russia's territory is superfluous. This sentence reveals Putin's dedication to territory, especially in the historical agreements signed between the former Soviet Union and all parties, Putin has always been headed by Russia's interests, and has a very tough attitude towards those countries that want to return their territory, that is, "not giving", especially on the issue of Estonian territory, Russian President Putin said in public that "the demand for the return of land to Estonia is unacceptable." Indeed, Putin, who is particularly tough on the territorial issue, has shown no concession on the issues of Crimea and the four northern islands, and today it is simply whimsical to want him to recognize a 100-year-old treaty and return the territory!
Historically, Estonia has been a pro-German and Soviet country, and as one of the three Baltic states, its relations with the Soviet Union have not been very harmonious in history. Estonia was occupied and ruled by Prussia, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Germany, etc., and then by Tsarist Russia for more than 200 years.
It was not until 1917 that the "February Revolution" and the "October Revolution" occurred in Tsarist Russia that shocked the world, and Estonia ushered in the dawn of independence, taking advantage of the short-lived turmoil in Tsarist Russia to proclaim the "Republic of Estonia" in 1918. But we can see from this that Estonia was originally the territory of the Soviet Union, and if it were not for the "February Revolution" and the "October Revolution" that broke out in the Soviet Union, Estonia would not have been able to become independent at all, so this independence in a sense angered the Soviet Union.
After the failure of the United States and the Soviet Union to compete for hegemony in the Soviet Union, these small countries have broken away and began to throw themselves into the arms of NATO, especially countries such as Estonia and Poland, which are not only supported by NATO militarily, but also supported by NATO economically. When this agreement was signed, it was clearly stipulated that the territorial sovereignty was complete and that the borders of other countries could not be violated. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible for Estonia to get back the contract, and the previous territory is absolutely impossible, of course, the most critical reason is that Russia prevents NATO's continuous eastward expansion in order to threaten the security of the capital Moscow.
