The Chinese pangolin (scientific name: Manis pentadactyla), also known as the carp, is a mammal of the family Lepidoptera and pangolins. Its body shape is relatively slender, the whole body scales are like tiles, the scales are arranged from the center of the dorsal ridge to the sides, and there are hard hairs between the scales, which are tan, like armor, which can protect the body. Feeding on termites, bees or other insects, Chinese pangolins can control termite populations in forest ecosystems and reduce the harm to forest trees.

Chinese pangolins are found in China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Chinese pangolin was listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2014. In June 2020, the Chinese pangolin was listed as a First Class Protected Animal in China.
