"Autumn has a lot of taste, and it is cute and hungry." On October 21, the technicians of Longling Xiaoheishan Provincial Nature Reserve in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, encountered a rare scene of the world's endangered species and a national first-class key protected wild animal Fischer's langur eating flowers on the canopy of a beautiful paulownia tree.

Fitchie's langurs are mostly active in the canopy, rarely go to the ground, are typical vegetarians, with young leaves, flowers, fruits as the main food, prefer to eat plant flowers, because some flowers are rich in nectar, higher in nutrients than leaves, can add more nutrients and energy for them for the winter.

"Longling Xiaoheishan has abundant and diverse wild plant species, and there is plenty of food throughout the year, and the Fissi's langurs living here do not worry about 'eating and drinking' and live quite comfortably. In addition, scenes like the collective feeding of wild flowers by Fischer's langurs have a very low probability of encountering. Deng Xiaobao, senior engineer of the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said.

The Fischer's langur is also Yunnan's flagship and iconic species. It belongs to the genus of langurs of the primate family Primate monkeys, also known as gray monkeys and long-tailed monkeys, and is mainly distributed in southern Yunnan in mainland China. In Longling County, it is mainly found in the Xiaoheishan Reserve and its surrounding areas in the middle mountain wet evergreen broad-leaved forest.

"In recent years, with the continuous increase of our ecological environmental protection and the frequency of wildlife monitoring, the population of Fischer's langur has shown a recovery growth trend." Yang Peiji, head of the Longling Xiaoheishan Provincial Nature Reserve Management and Protection Bureau, said. According to the survey materials of the 2022 Longling Little Montenegro Phyll's langurs, the current population of Fischer's langurs in the reserve has reached about 350 in 10 groups.
