On the first World Migratory Bird Day this year, an eagle owl "fell" in a rattle

14 May, the first World Migratory Bird Day this year. In the morning, it was overcast and there was sporadic rain. On the green space of a unit near the Agricultural Road of Huayuan Road in Zhengzhou City, a national second-class protected animal, the eagle owl, fell.

Looking like an eagle and an owl, two big yellow eyes were shining brightly. However, under the "group beating" of several magpies, this bird of prey did not have the strength to fight back, panicked, and "grunted" and fell.

Seeing a bird of prey being bullied by several magpies, Mr. Zheng, who works in the unit, could not think of a good way for the time being. It just so happened that the daughter of a colleague was studying at Henan Agricultural University and usually loved birds, so she contacted the daughter of a colleague with the online name of "Ji Ji".

Subsequently, she launched a call for help in the bird friends group. The reporter of Dahe News Yu video contacted her for the first time and learned about the specific situation. Then, the reporter contacted Dong Chaowei, director of the wildlife rescue station of the Zhengzhou Forestry Bureau.

Through the photos provided by Mr. Zheng, Dong Chaowei judged that this is the national second-level protected animal eagle owl, which looks like an eagle, hence the name. It is a species of the genus Hawk owl in the family Owlidae, and is distinguished by two large eyes with a yellow iris. Its beak is stronger and curved.

"The eagle owl is a summer migratory bird in Zhengzhou, breeding and living in Zhengzhou in the summer." He said the hawk owl was in danger because it had intruded into the magpie's territory. Magpies have a strong sense of territory, so they will form a group to attack the eagle owl. Despite its fierce nature, the Eagle Owl was eventually outnumbered and defeated.

However, due to the distance of the ambulance station from the location of the eagle owl, it could not arrive at the scene quickly and smoothly, so Dong Chaowei suggested that Mr. Zheng first catch the eagle owl into the box and let it avoid the magpie's continued attack first. The Hawk Owl is a bird of prey, and he advises Mr. Cheng to be cautious about catching them so as not to be pecked.

However, the process of capture was not smooth, and the eagle owl did not cooperate with the consciousness, but instead kept running around. Coupled with the magpies' tight pursuit, the eagle owl flew to the nearby construction site. There are still trees growing in the construction site, the eagle owl has temporarily found a hiding place, and the magpies have stopped chasing.

Dong Chaowei said that according to further understanding, the eagle owl's physical and mental state is good. It flew out of the magpie's territory, which meant that the situation became safe. Because the eagle owl is a nocturnal animal, as long as it is provided with a quiet environment, after the evening, it can return to nature on its own.

According to the introduction, eagle owl is not common in the Zhengzhou area. They mostly rest in the canopy during the day and feed on insects, mice, and birds.
