On the same day, lithuania's parliament unanimously passed a bill designating Russia as a "state that supports and commits terrorism," accusing Russian troops of "committing war crimes" in Ukraine. On the same day, Lithuania received a second piece of bad news after senior officials from the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture continued to pressure Taiwan to provide import permits, but Taiwan shelved the plan; on May 10, it announced a moratorium on imports of Lithuanian agricultural products due to the substandard quality of agricultural products provided by Lithuania. The Lithuanian authorities spared no effort to stand up for Taiwan, but now they are rejected by Taiwan!
As the "loyal" little brother of the United States in Europe, Lithuania has provoked China and Russia in recent months, and its performance has been repeatedly praised by the US government, which can be called a model in the "cannon fodder" of the United States.
In the resolution adopted by the Lithuanian Parliament, the Lithuanian government portrayed the Russian army as a "terrorist force" and smeared Russia as a "state that supports and perpetrates terrorism" on the grounds that the Russian army and mercenaries committed large-scale war crimes in the areas of Bucha, Ilben, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Gostomel and other regions in Ukraine" and "consciously and systematically chose to attack civilian targets".
However, the Lithuanian side apparently selectively ignored some things, such as the Ukrainian armed forces hiding artillery positions in kindergartens or dispersing their forces in residential buildings to resist. In this way, the nature of the so-called residential areas has changed into military fortresses and artillery positions. In order to avoid a large number of casualties, the Russian army had to strike at these areas. Before the start of the fighting, the Russian side repeatedly opened up "humanitarian passages" to leave time and space for the Ukrainian residents in the combat zone to evacuate. All this was ignored by the Lithuanian side.
Although the steel plant in Mariupol is not among the main military facilities attacked by the Russian side, it hides many militants inside, including the main combat force of the "Azov Battalion" that advocates Nazism in Ukraine; there are no Ukrainian residents in the entire steel plant, but the steel plant is not a military facility to smear the Russian army. The Russo-Ukrainian War, which was intended only to be a special military operation against the spearhead of Nazism in Ukraine, was extended by the Lithuanian side to be an act of war in which "the Russian regime attempted to destroy the Ukrainian nation, so such an act should be regarded as genocide against the Ukrainian people". On the same day, Lithuania's foreign minister also mentioned that NATO should subvert the existing Russian regime in order to avoid the emergence of no more powerful figures like Putin in Russia in the future. It can be seen that Lithuania has gone farther and farther down the road of extreme anti-Russia: even if Russia and Lithuania are close at hand, they dare to provoke Putin with an image of extreme anti-Russia.
If Lithuania's provocation of Russia can be explained by historical reasons, then Lithuania's interference in the Taiwan issue, thousands of miles away, is obviously a loss. Previously, the Lithuanian authorities frantically hyped up the Taiwan issue and even allowed the Taiwan authorities to set up a representative office in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, in the name of "Taiwan," which seriously violated the "one-China" principle recognized by the Lithuanian authorities. Therefore, many Chinese merchants spontaneously organized themselves and refused to continue to purchase and sell Lithuanian goods, resulting in a large number of Lithuanian goods being unable to enter the customs, including a large number of Lithuanian beer.
Later, this batch of beer was "taken over" by the Taiwan authorities and sold in Taiwan, and politicians on the island used this to instruct the green media to make a big fuss, claiming that this was to help "Lithuanian friends" avoid oppression by the great powers.
This made the Lithuanian government smell a hint of sweetness, and immediately launched a warm response, saying that "Taiwan loves our products more" and "this will greatly motivate us", thus seeking closer cooperation with Taiwan. Among them is Lithuania's desire to export large quantities of agricultural products to Taiwan.
However, on 10 May, Lithuanian domestic media sent a message that a company in charge of export negotiations had responded to the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture that Taiwan had refused to buy agricultural products from Lithuania on the grounds that there were quality problems with them. Subsequently, this news was recognized and confirmed by the Taiwan side, but neither side clarified the specific problems of these agricultural products. After Taiwan confirmed this news, it assured the Lithuanian side that it did not deliberately restrict the entry of various Lithuanian commodities into Taiwan, "because Lithuania is a new agricultural market for Taiwan, and the review of import licenses for agricultural products takes time."
Since January this year, senior officials of the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture have continued to pressure Taiwan on the pretext that "Taiwan is a potential market for Lithuanian agricultural products, calling on Taiwan to speed up the issuance of licenses and help these enterprises obtain import licenses" and constantly urging Taiwan to provide import licenses, and this agricultural trade cooperation will only be shelved.
The reason behind this is also quite simple: Lithuania and Taiwan are too far apart, and both sides are not large. Lithuania is an extremely deformed country, with services accounting for 68% of GDP and industry and agriculture accounting for only 32%. Lithuania, on the other hand, has an area of only 65,000 square kilometers and a population of only 2.79 million. Well, Lithuania is clearly unable to export large quantities of agricultural products. However, these agricultural products need to come to Taiwan from the Baltic Sea through the Atlantic Ocean and through the Indian Ocean; I am afraid that their freight costs will be more expensive than the value of the agricultural products themselves; the Taiwan authorities are naturally unwilling to be the "wronged head Chinese mainland" and can only think of all kinds of reasons to perfunctory Lithuania.
Lithuania, a small country that dared to openly provoke China and Russia in the international political arena, clearly had the support of the United States behind it. In order to cater to the United States, to exchange these outrageous behaviors for the promise of benefits provided by American politicians, and even to quarrel with China and Russia, this is itself a very absurd thing.
Of course, lithuania believes that the total amount of trade with China and Russia in the past was not large, and there is no need to rely on the economic cooperation projects that China and Russia can provide to live.
