I only met with the writer Wu Junling once, and I felt cordial. I knew him to be a master of fiction, especially short stories. On January 12, 2022, the modern text reading "Broken Road" of the third grade of Jinan City High School Learning Situation Test Language Test Questions was impressively recognized by the author "Wu Junling". Immediately informed, Brother Wu was very happy. The work was selected as a large examination question text, which is enough to explain the standard of the novel and the recognition of the author.

"Broken Road" is a short story by the author published in Coconut City magazine in 2021. Although it is only more than 7,000 words, it is rich in meaning, sobering, ideological and artistic.

Liaocheng is a famous old revolutionary area. "Broken Road" shows the national crisis and contradictions during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression; the contest between justice and evil, the beauty and ugliness of human nature runs through the whole text. The protagonist Liang Shi (the character name is alluded to praise and depreciation) has an irrevocable rift and hatred with Bao Chang Liangyu and his aunt and cousin Xin Xicai, whose face of betraying the country and seeking glory is portrayed inexhaustible. The focus of the story is that the people's livelihood was withered by the Japanese Kou's sweep (including the economy), and the people were extremely poor and hungry, so that "the elm trees, locust trees, and leaves on both sides of the dirt road were eaten." Under such circumstances, the Chinese people have a very strong national integrity, without the slightest condescension and knees, and resolutely "cut off the road" with those who are incompatible. "Xiao San, remember, our old martial family does not have this relative with the surname Xin, and we will not come and go anymore." Resolutely, swing back to the intestines.

The title is exquisite and the dialogue is concise and vivid. The title of the novel is the soul of the eyes of the whole text. Lu Xun's "Medicine" and "Blessing" can be called classics. The title of the novel is "Broken Road", which has three meanings: (1) the father and the cousin Xin Xicai, who was a traitor; (2) "Breaking the road" with relatives with grain rights means cutting off their own road of survival, symbolizing the father's noble national integrity; (3) it means "the road of life", and with the "broken road" of ordinary people with family and country feelings represented by their father", "good soldiers", and the "broken road" of survival opportunities, the Chinese nation can go to the road of survival. In this way, the author's proposed topic can be described as ingenious.

Without dialogue, there is no novel. The language of fictional characters should pursue individuality. "Broken Road" is very distinctive, and The Good Man is particularly distinctive. "Japanese dogs! Daddy said hatefully. In Daddy's eyes, there was a flame of anger burning. Three words came out of his mouth: Dog traitor! "Three words and two words paint the protagonist's tooth-cutting hatred alive, full of tension, very authentic. Not only that, but the novel explains the plot in the dialogue, enriches the content, saves space, and the suspense is repeated. The Wu style is fully displayed.

Beyond the dialogue, there is the narrative language of the novel. Short in length, but with 52 paragraphs, clear and clear, each paragraph (sometimes a sentence) reproduces a small scene, highlighting the human temperament. (41) "Daddy's eyes looked at the nest head. (42) "Just as Daddy's hand reached for the nest, Liang Yu walked into the courtyard. (43)" Daddy's hand shrank back. "Without analysis, a clear-eyed person can see the economy of the author's pen and ink, the strength of expression, and the picture is immediate." Action, details, scenes, three-dimensional transmission. If you put it together, the effect is lost. Every sentence, every word, and even every word written by the author is chewable. This is something I rarely see when I read other novels. The charm of the short story is fully displayed in Wu Junling's pen.

"There are no people in the village. A dog walked down the street against the wall, no longer active in the past. A hen, on a stack of firewood, followed by two claws, did not find a grain of grain that could keep its head down. The "chicken and dog" here has a special meaning, and its sluggishness shows the reality of no grain and the depression of the enemy-occupied areas. Chickens and dogs are like this, let alone people? Borrowing is extraordinary. I most appreciated the beginning of the novel: "The sun is yellowish and yellow like a pancake, hanging high in the blue sky so that I can't reach it." Comparing "sun" to "pancakes", just as Lu Xun compares "snow" to "plum blossoms" ("Blessings"), it is both form and spirit, appropriate and novel, both to portray the psychology of a child who is hungry, and to establish the narrative perspective of the novel ("I" - first person). Killing two birds with one stone is a master's style. There are also many wonderful metaphors, such as, "his tall and thin body is bent like a river shrimp" and "Daddy's tears are like two shy little bugs", which can see the language skills of a good writer.

Let's talk about "sticks" briefly. The stick appears three times in the novel: "Daddy touched a stick with his right hand, held it, and walked slowly forward." "The stick in his right hand doesn't match his steps." "Daddy stand up and stick his right hand." Obviously, the stick is only an aid to "Daddy" when walking, and does not play a foreshadowing role. It is believed that if the "father" finally hits his cousin Xin Xicai with a "stick" and breaks it to show his determination and the depth of his hatred, the effect will be better and more obvious to its theme.

Liangshi is the main character of the novel, and the author does not portray him in isolation, but places him in a complex environment. Details are everywhere. "More than ten meters away, I looked back and saw that there was cooking smoke on the roof of Uncle Xicai's house." "Cooking Smoke", showing that Xin Xicai joined the traitor organization, happily entertained the bao chang Liangyu who recommended him. The "cooking smoke" here corresponds to the "cooking smoke" of Liangyujia shortly after the beginning of the novel, and we cannot help but marvel that this is the writer's divine stroke. The regional color of the novel is also very clear, mainly reflected in the refinement and use of Lu Xi dialect, such as "squeaky strange call", "knocking on the rice door" and "boiling sweet potato dry".

"Broken Road", concise and rich, timeless and long, is a rare good novel. I am proud that Liaocheng has such an excellent novelist as Wu Junling.
