Born into a family of priests in northern Holland, Van Gogh was reclusive, silent and shy from an early age. The 18-year-old Van Gogh aspired to become a painter. None of the relatives in the family supported him, and only his brother understood and supported him. He first studied under the Hague painter Mov, and later in Al, in southern France, he became acquainted with a group of Impressionist painters, who were deeply influenced by Impressionism and Japanese printmaking.

He did not dare to call himself a painter all his life, but had his own brother. His younger brother Theo was Van Gogh's sole financier of life and his sole supporter of art. Theo had a high artistic appreciation, always considering his brother's works to be first-class masterpieces, and he collected Van Gogh's paintings very carefully.

Most of his paintings are gloomy scenes and toiling miners in mining areas, peasant women who roll in the sunset and farmers in farmland, weeping women and bare old trees, old orphans in urban almshouses, and old horses and farmers in driving. Van Gogh's most touching thing is probably that after understanding the world, he still loves the world, fortunately he is a genius who can vent his heart in the painting.
