The awakening of Chinese youth has ignited the light of hope for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Before and after the May Fourth Movement, a large number of young people with lofty ideals who took the lead in accepting new ideas, new cultures, and new knowledge chose Marxism-Leninism through repeated comparisons, and promoted the Chinese people and the Chinese nation to achieve their first comprehensive awakening since the Opium War.
In 1922, on May 5, the birthday of the revolutionary teacher Marx, the first national congress of the Chinese Socialist Youth League was held in Guangzhou. On June 3, 1922, Zhao Shiyan, Zhou Enlai, Li Weihan, and others who worked and studied in France established the "Chinese Youth Communist Party in Europe", which was later renamed the "Chinese Communist Youth League in Europe (Chinese Socialist Youth League In Europe Branch)". In January 1925, the Third National Congress of the Chinese Socialist Youth League was held in Shanghai, and it was decided to change the name of the League to the Chinese Communist Youth League. The Communist Youth League of China has developed and grown under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, has always stood in the forefront of the revolutionary struggle, and has a glorious history. In the period of the new-democratic revolution, Chinese young people were not afraid of sacrifice, dared to struggle, withstood the test of life and death, and charged and spilled their blood for national independence and people's liberation.
Reflecting the theme of Chinese youth in this period, the theme of art creation is clear, and major events have corresponding representative works. Due to the relatively complete historical materials, the narrative and pertinence of art works are very strong. This kind of theme creation often coincided with the artist's personal artistic language style, which gave birth to many classic works and created the indomitable collective image of Chinese youth in that period.
