The centuries of archaeology in Peking University

Deep accumulation

Happy Birthday 100!

In September 1924, Peking University's Guoxuemen tongs took a group photo at the original site of the Translation Institute of the Three Academies

"Non-archeologically unavailable"

At a time of national and national distress

Why do people of insight and achievement at Peking University choose archaeology to serve the country?

Only because of the ancient history of our country

It is closely related to the spirit of our people

Served as an archaeological research laboratory

Mr. Ma Heng, the first director, once wrote:

"To cover archaeologists is to seek the process of evolution from the remains or relics of mankind, to seek its truth, to be objective. Therefore, if you want to transform the old history, you must start with archaeology. ”

Deep thoughts, heartfelt sounds

The words are sonorous and vigorous

The second year

The Archaeological Research Office immediately set up an investigation agency -

Survey of Antiquities in Monuments

Renamed "Archaeological Society" the following year

The survey will decide

Investigate and research using archaeological methods

Material relics and relics of human beings in China's past

Start by investigating

Once the funds are slightly more generous

Then organize excavation missions

September 29, 1928

When he went deep into Tunguska Brazil in Xinjiang alone

Heartfelt sigh:

"Most of the people in the mainland revere the research of the upper levels and are ignorant of the lower levels; the Westerners know it, but they are ignorant of the country, and they want to improve historiography and geoscience, and they must use archaeology as the foundation."

Happy Birthday 100!

Mr. Huang Wenbi

Founder of Peking University archaeology

Get out of the study and run to the field
