However, what makes me a little paradoxical is that compared to the volume of "Moonlight Knight" with only 6 episodes, and then the 3rd episode progresses slowly, this episode is equivalent to making a small disconnection in the main plot, and such a setting is generally more abundant than 9 collectives.
For example, the 8th episode of "Wanda's Illusions" of 9 collective quantities uses the same structure, using almost a whole episode to trace Wanda's past. Of course, the meaning of not stepping on a bunch of one is Marvel's film.
In fact, to put it bluntly, I hope that "Moonlight Knight" has 9 collective quantities of words, how cool it is, to show more of the confrontation between Moonlight Knight and the Amit cult, and there are also like this whole episode to portray the two characters of Mark and Steven in detail.

Episode 5 has little to do with the previous main line mission, mainly to enrich the Mark people, in this need to first introduce the organizational structure of the entire mental hospital and Egyptian mythology, so that everyone can better understand.
First of all, does this mental hospital really exist, is Mark really a mental patient, the answer is: neither, maybe Mark is pathologically multiple personality syndrome. Specifically, look back at the previous issue.
Basically this mental hospital is a self-evaluation of Mark's embodiment, which you can understand as in the Egyptian myth of the MCU, when everyone is dying, they will build a building of their own subconscious, and then HippoTavolit will come to pick up people and explain everything to the deceased.
Mark knew that he was very delicate, had multiple personalities, and was like a mental patient, so his subconscious mind felt that he was living in a mental hospital, and at the time of Mark's death, the mental hospital was visualized, and people and things appeared in it.
So in episode 4 Mark experiences the psychiatric hospital corridor shaking, not as a metaphor for the balance of the sky, but in his boat in the underworld Duat, the lamp on the surface of the ship, and the lamp in the corridor of the mental hospital (almost) is the same, indicating that the corridor is actually in the ship, that is, the underworld.
Then there is the hippo sister, as mentioned in the previous issue, Tavorit, a protective deity of pregnant women, who can bless pregnant women and newborns. It means rebirth, and in Egyptian mythology there is also a job in the underworld.
So why would Mark jump to different scenes repeatedly?
To make a less appropriate analogy, you can understand the feeling of "Inception" one link after another, Mark's marquee recall is at the bottom, the scene of Mark and Dr. Arthur's dialogue is on the penultimate layer, the underworld is that Duart is in the penultimate layer, and then the reality level is at the top, that is, the human world.

So when Mark was frightened by the hippopotamus of the underworld, he jumped back to the room where dr. Hippo then explains himself and the situation to Mark and Steven, but Mark is not convinced, and wants to open a door to prove that he is in a mental hospital, only to find himself on a ferry in the underworld, and hippopotamus prepares to give them a heart weight trial.
The shape of the ship is (almost) the same as the model of the boat in Episode 1 Steven's Goldfish Tank.

Only after they have been judged and the scales are balanced can they take a boat to the reed plains, that is, Elysium, or the gentle hippopotamus will simply throw them off the boat as undead.

Steven then noticed a memory of Mark standing on the side of the road, next to the QR code again Amway Moonlight Knight comic.

Little Mark then takes Lanlan to the jungle to play an adventure game, which becomes the beginning of the tragedy.

On the next floor, little Mark was eating, the alcoholic mother had been talking nonsense, actually said that little Mark had long been jealous of his brother, so he "killed" his brother, angry little Mark went directly upstairs, Steven followed upstairs, but suddenly was hugged by Mark and pulled out of this memory chain.
However, in fact, they did not escape from the memory layer, but came to mark's youth, leaving the memory of the original family.
Mark continued to prevent Steven from looking down, directly to the scene of the Egyptian mission that day, Mark joined the ranks of former commander Bushman as a mercenary, raiding an Egyptian mausoleum.
As a result, Bushman temporarily killed all the witnesses, including Lyra's father, mark tried to stop the result and was killed, the dying Mark climbed to the temple, yes, the temple of the moon god Kongsu.
Just when Mark wanted to end his life, Kong Su spoke and made a pact with Mark, and Mark became a moonlight knight to fight for Kong Su and survive.
When all this was seen by Steven, the balance swayed less violently, but when the emergency came, they returned to the ship and found that the unbalanced souls of the human world had been prematurely judged, and fell directly into the Duat Desert and became a lone ghost.

But rules are rules, and before reaching the entrance to the human world, Mark and Steven's balance must be balanced.

Anyway, the brothers once again entered the memory line, Mark of course continued to try to prevent it, Steven directly showdown, do not face the past calmly, our Lyra will die.

The picture turns, mark's mother's funeral, Mark stands stupidly on the street corner, that is, the beginning of the memory, and finally Mark did not go in, but sadly left, just when Mark did not want to face all this, the personality was transformed into Steven, Steven was confused, and still made a phone call to his mother that could not be answered.
Recalling this, Mark and Steven finally reach a reconciliation, and Steven in turn comforts Mark that his brother's death was just an accident.
Just then the whole scene shook, as if the ship had stopped, and they stepped out to see that the ship had reached the human entrance to Osiris.
Unfortunately, their balance has not yet stabilized, and according to the rules, Mark and Steven can only be dragged into the Duat desert.

At this time, the balance was miraculously balanced, and in the blink of an eye, Mark seemed to have come to the reed plains, ah, the original reeds were really a lot of reeds.
First, let's think about the third personality that everyone cares about the most.
Does the third personality exist? I think it exists, otherwise episode 3 wouldn't have made it so clear that the third personality is so explicit.
But as I talked about in episode 2, it is just right that two personalities in one season and 6 episodes can be complete, and this season is already saturated as long as it is rich in the rivalry and reconciliation between Mark and Steven.
In addition, the third personality is not even known to Mark, but Kong Su, who is from the perspective of God, is at a glance, and it seems that he does not intend to tell Mark, because Kong Su knows in his heart that Mark has already rejected him, and the brutal third personality is more in line with Kong Su's control.
So for now, the third personality should not be explicitly revealed in the first season of the film, but may appear in the final Easter egg of the first season, and have a talk with Kong Su to a dirty deal or the like.
But that doesn't mean that the third personality hasn't appeared in this season, I've thought about it before, maybe Episode 1 is in the town, Steven's personality after dropping the line may not be Mark, but the third personality beats people all to death.
There is also episode 3, where the apparent third person kills people.
Then there's Episode 5, when Mark and Steven are frightened, the scene cuts to Dr. Arthur's room, and Mark has a wound on his face, which is a confusing detail.
Because Mark didn't want to remember his brother's drowning afterwards, his face was unharmed when he jumped back to Arthur's room out of control.
So can it be understood that this wounded person is a third personality? Listening carefully, it seems that the accent is also a little different, I can't hear it with wooden ears, but it feels like Oscar Isaac's way of acting has changed a bit.
And in the end, he also holds the crystal pyramid ready to attack, and also wants to hurt himself, just ... It's brutal.
But this is just to give everyone a fantastic direction, not to be too real.
So if there is a third personality, why did the balance balance instead after Steven fell into the Douat Desert and froze, shouldn't three hearts be put in order to balance the balance?
Good question, I thought the same thing before.
Let's go back to episode 4, Mark and Steven see the blood-colored coffin in the room, ignore it and go around it, if the coffin is the third personality that everyone is talking about, then is it not opened, there is no need to be judged?
It can be understood that the third personality is extremely secretive, or that the third personality has no soul at all.
So the balance has been judged by Mark and Steven, who have already appeared.
(As for) why the balance is balanced after Steven falls.
The explanations here are very diverse, it can be understood that this episode is the reconciliation of Mark and Steven, the reason why Steven was born is that Mark cannot face the tragic past and his mother, but now the heart knot is dissolved, Steven is slightly redundant in the creativity of the person, so when Steven leaves, the balance is balanced.
Of course, it is also understandable that this episode is mainly about Mark's past, but maybe Steven still has a secret, which may not even be known to Steven, and may involve a third personality. So Steven's departure left the balance balanced.

Well, let's go back to the traditional logic, then there is another problem, is Steven really leaving us like this, I think it is unlikely, from the perspective of the play, Steven is a very important character, although he unlocks Mark's fear of the past, but has already established an empathy bond with the audience that is more important than Mark.
Besides, Steven's knowledge of Egypt, as well as humor, and the setting that he is Mr. Knight, cannot be lost.
Then there is another question, how did Steven come back to life?
First of all, based on the first season and the last episode, the finale is basically Mark's Moonlight Knight vs Arthur's Armitt, so Steven will either be resurrected in the Easter egg, or resurrected at the beginning and return to the human world with Mark.
Because Mark will be resurrected no matter what, this does not have to be brain-holeed, it must be operated like this.
We can see mark finally come to The True Reed Plains. Here maybe Mark can talk to Osiris. Osiris who can look back at the last two issues said in great detail, simply put, is the Grand Master of the Underworld.

Steven feels like a loser throughout the season, but in Mark's eyes, Steven is truly the happiest person in the world, with a mother who loves him, a perfect family, and although wrapped up in lies, as long as Steven doesn't know it, it's all worth it.
So in episode 2, Mark said, when it's all over, I'll give you the body, Mark knows that Steven was created by him, which shows how desperate Mark is for himself, he wants Steven to live for him, which can also show that Mark is actually very kind, he doesn't want to hurt anyone, but the tragic childhood has put him on a different life.
Then ironically, it's steven who sacrificed himself and achieved the liberated Mark, and it's a shame to see that.
