Legacy of Thieves 2 Review: A Magical High-Level Rubik's Cube

The Legacy of Thieves 2, which many players are following, ended its EA status on April 28 and entered the official version. This marks the fact that it has become a complete game, accompanied by some content tweaks and fixes - of course, more importantly, the official version supports Chinese, which is a necessity for many players. So if you don't know anything about this Roguelike masterpiece, you might as well follow my perspective to preview it.

As a typical Roguelike game, the most outstanding feature of Rogue Legacy 2 is its strong randomness, and even if it is thrown into the gladiatorial arena of similar games, it is still the most prominent one.

Simply put, at the beginning of each game, the game will let you choose one of three random classes, and from here, the process of each game is completely different. For the most part, all of these optional professions come with a variety of traits, sometimes more than one. For example, to make the adventure into a "black and white silent film", such as the enemy will drop bombs after death, such as the world upside down, "turn off the lights", the character becomes larger and smaller, etc., these "Buff" or "Debuff" fully empower the entertainment of the game process, at the same time, the high returns that accompany them will not make you feel that unnecessary difficulty, you can always gain fun in growth.

That's what makes me want to stop. It took me 20 hours a week to clear the customs, and I can't remember how many times I died, but none of them made me feel like I had "run in vain.". Every attempt is rewarded with the chance to level up in the "Gift Castle". With so many growth options in the game, plus the aforementioned random buff and random class, I've developed the desire to challenge the next round at the same time as almost every round dies.

Not counting the enhanced form, there are a total of fifteen basic classes in this game, and each class has no threshold in operation. The categories and skills of normal attacks determine the characteristics of the class, such as the warrior's attack range is a semicircle in any case, the Viking samurai's long knife can be vertically picked up and down, the axe is a "big windmill" when attacking in the air, the occult magician can create AOE, and so on. My best class is assassin, and no straight, quick attacks and stealth time always give me room for maneuver. But I don't focus on assassins because of this, and it's hard not to try out the rotation of various classes, and this game has such a charm - each class can be played from the moment you get started. It is worth mentioning that weapons and skills are not fixed, there are quite a lot of random changes in the process of attacking the level, you can change equipment and spells, you can also get a powerful Buff, and even bug-level abilities such as random flight, which also makes each game mysterious.

In terms of levels, this game nominally has six randomly changing levels, eight bosses, and after opening the new destiny line in the second week, it will encounter an equal number of enhanced bosses, bringing about a large change in terrain and attack methods, which is very worth challenging. Therefore, it can also be said that the playable content in the whole process is very rich. The Weekly Eye level itself is not too difficult, and in my personal experience, most of my deaths stem from mobs, because in this fast-paced game you will be plotted by traps and enemies at any time. The more you get to the next level, the more insidious traps and enemies there are, and the more difficult to deal with the elite monsters, the more the probability of death by mistake.

Of course, when in the state of "dead or alive can not be beaten", you can also lock the progress through the "world lock", step by step to the bottom of the level; or simply open the "house rule" mode, freely adjust the difficulty, this function in this work has no negative impact, it can be said that the difficulty lever is completely handed over to the player. This can also make it a necessary auxiliary tool in the process of brushing money and brushing experience for many weeks.

It's hard to tell what impressive flaws I encountered while playing Rogue Legacy 2, but as a good model for Roguelike, it gave me extraordinary fun. It looks simple and lightweight, but it's extremely rich inside—after 35 hours of playing so far, I can still see something unknown that makes me curious. This combination of super random elements makes it difficult to pick up the handle and then put it down. Therefore, my evaluation of this game is as the title says: it is a magical high-level Rubik's Cube. There are countless variations in the process of untangling it, and it's hard to stop until you're leveling it up.
