Commenting on the performance of major players, Senior Research Analyst Ivan Lam said: "In this quarter, Vivo regained its market leadership from Apple (the fourth quarter of 2021), with a share of nearly 20%. The new mid-range S12 series, which focuses on selfies and features a lightweight, sleek design, has received positive market feedback, especially among younger customers. Thanks to the honor 60's outstanding performance, the brand was also the only major OEM to achieve both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter positive growth in the quarter, with 167% and 15%, respectively. Honor also launched the Magic 4 series worldwide in the first quarter of 2022, marking its global ambitions.

Xiaomi's phone sales fell year-on-year, but outperformed the market in the first quarter of 2022 with a 12% sequential increase. Coupled with the easing of component shortages and strong sales performance of flagship products Redmi K40, Redmi Note 11 and entry-level Redmi 9A, Xiaomi recorded a relatively strong quarterly performance. The launch of the Redmi 50 Series and The Redmi 10A in March will further help Xiaomi consolidate its presence
