Located in the core of the Silk Road Software City, the new Library of Shaanxi Province, which integrates classical and modern temperament, has officially opened to the public, providing a new place for the city's friends who love to read.

The newly completed new library of Shaanxi Provincial Library is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Yunshui 1st Road and Tiangu 7th Road in the high-tech zone, close to the high-tech international conference center, and the main entrance is located on Tiangu 7th Road.
In terms of scale, the total construction area is 81,900 square meters, including functional areas such as reading buildings, reserve libraries, professional concert halls, lecture halls, reader service centers and underground historical documents and libraries, with a planned collection capacity of 8 million volumes, 4,000 reader seats, and a daily capacity of 10,000 readers.

The scale alone is nearly twice that of the old Chang'an Road Museum (47,000 square meters), and this design is also based on the comprehensive consideration of the museum's long-term needs.
According to public information, by the end of 2020, shaanxi provincial libraries have a total collection of more than 5.51 million volumes (pieces), more than 3.6 million electronic books, and more than 150,000 audio-visual literature, microfilms and other literature.
Combined with actual analysis, although the 4 million books planned by the old library at the beginning of this century seemed to be satisfied in the short term, with the rapid development of the city, the reading market was also greatly improved, and the current collection of books had already exceeded the original design capacity, and the more than 1600 seats were also difficult to support the current public reading demand. With the limited expansion of the original site, the construction of a new museum became more and more important.

The new building is designed by the Northwest Design and Research Institute of China Architecture, from the appearance to the spatial structure to the choice of materials, which not only highlights the thick and simple cultural heritage of Shaanxi, but also has no lack of modern and fashionable beauty.
From the air, the building adopts a space processing mode of centralized dispersion, combining the outer square and the inner courtyard, and establishes the axis system of the east- west and north-south directions respectively, and the central intersection is the reading hall, which dominates the overall interpretation of the deep artistic conception of the courtyard.
The library is sufficiently spaced off from the surrounding industrial park buildings, and the lush street trees become a natural barrier between the "academy" and the modern city.

It should be emphasized that after the new museum (high-tech pavilion area) is put into use, the well-known Chang'an Road pavilion area will still operate, and the new and old pavilions will coexist to achieve interoperability. The old museum mainly undertakes the reading needs of the public, while the new library provides more conferences, lectures, exhibitions, reader activities and other service needs on the basis of meeting reading.

Standing at the main entrance of the building, you can clearly see the "figure" character hanging in the middle of the outer wall with the deformed style of the book and the main body with the outline style of the sloped roof, and the façade of the building is mainly based on the combination of dry hanging stone and wood grain texture, with a rhythmic grille and glass curtain wall, while the embellishment of clear water concrete materials also adds modern elements to the building.

Functional distribution of each floor
The interior space covers five floors above ground and a semi-underground mezzanine, with an underground parking lot on the negative level. The functions are mainly divided into three parts: literature reading, expansion services and functional support, and the reading function area that is the first to be opened has four characteristic areas: the urban study room, the children's library, the newspaper and periodical reading area, the Chinese book reading area.
The east and west passages of the lobby on the first floor lead to the Children's Hall and the City Study Room respectively. Among them, the children's hall decoration highlights warm colors, the top circular chandelier creates a vibrant atmosphere, seats, sofas and other facilities are tailored for children of different ages, and the core area also provides a platform for picture book reading, handicraft and other activities; the city study room launches an all-weather service, where self-service cards and loans can be carried out.

Stepping into the reading hall in the middle of the second floor, the way of falling layers separates the library space from the reading space, and a large number of high space divides the "human space" and "book space", realizing the "two phases" of dynamic and static partitioning, readers pick up the steps and shuttle between them, and the colorful and colorful knowledge sharing era is vividly presented here. In particular, the 600㎡ panoramic glass sunroof installed at the top gives a higher level of environmental comfort.

The three-story large-area space is the Chinese book area, where the total collection of books is 300,000 volumes, including 22 major categories of books such as social sciences, natural sciences, literature and art; the fourth floor adds cultural display experience centers and restaurants on the basis of the boutique book display area; due to the five-story positioning to expand services, it is currently not open to the public.

In addition, the layout of the east-west axis of the museum is strung together three main halls and two main courtyards, and the space progresses with the axis layer by layer, reaching a landscape courtyard with different scenery step by step, forming a green landscape-style reading and learning environment.

As a window of urban culture, the new provincial map has multiple functions, on the basis of meeting the public's reading, it also integrates multicultural formats, such as immersive experience exhibitions, art training centers, holographic theaters, bookstores and other consumption scenes, and strives to meet the needs of leisure and entertainment, popular science exhibitions and other needs, and shape a comprehensive and perfect new way of urban life.

The completion of the new museum is not only an update of the building and equipment environment of the museum, but also a further improvement of the management mode and development concept.
At this point, the Shaanxi Provincial Library has formed an overall pattern of "one library and three districts", with the total construction area of the three major library areas of West Avenue, Chang'an Road and High-tech reaching 133,000 square meters, ranking second in the national provincial public library and the first in the western region, with a total collection of 10.309 million books.

According to the arrangement of the museum, the new library (high-tech pavilion area) of the provincial map has been opened to the public at 12:00 on April 24, the opening time is from 9:00 to 17:00 every Tuesday to Sunday, and it is closed all day on Monday, and currently only provides literature reading services, and does not provide literature lending and certification services.
In terms of transportation, in addition to self-driving, you can take buses such as 116 Road, 199 Road, 272 Road, and Gaoxin Line 5 (Yunshui 1st Road Tiangu 7th Junction Station). Before the regional subway line was approved, the future high-tech tram could also be seen as an option, and the convention center station is close to the library, which can be reached within a few minutes of walking distance after getting off the train.
