Chinese characters are the core of Chinese culture
Lai Hanmei has always been very fond of Chinese characters, and after work, she likes to practice calligraphy with a brush, and her calligraphy is calm and relaxed with the pen. In her opinion, Chinese characters are very interesting and have a deep cultural heritage. She pointed to the "book" word she had written and analyzed the origin of the word in the way of persuasive text.
The earliest meaning of the word "book" is to write with a brush in hand, one interpretation is to hold a brush in a brick-like vessel dipped in 3 drops of ink to record; another is to hold a brush to record the day of sunrise and sunset.
The simplified "book" character that we are familiar with is actually derived from the glyph of cursive writing, and the word "book" from oracle bone, gold script to seal line kai, from turtle back, bamboo jane, bronze and even scroll, is itself full of magical ancient colors, but also has cultural origins. Lai Hanmei sighed: "I think Chinese characters are the core of Chinese culture, and books are the spark and light of civilization. ”
Books are the spark and light of civilization
With the acceleration of the pace of the times, the high development of technology has made fewer and fewer people reading paper books. In her view, when people develop the habit of reading screens such as computers and mobile phones, the time for reading books is greatly compressed, and even the reverence for books is also decaying. Although reading screens is more convenient and fast, it invisibly erodes attention and thinking. "Mobile phones push people close to them, and people from far away, so only by reading books with a deep heart can they be of great benefit to the formation of attention and thinking."
There is knowledge in the book, there is people's hearts, there are dreams, there is a homeland, there is a world, there is a nation, there is an ancient, and there is a future. She told the reader about the famous sentence of the Song Dynasty poet You Yuan: "Hungry reading is to be meat, cold reading is to be Qiu, lonely and reading is to be a friend, and melancholy is to read as a golden stone qinser." It can be seen that reading has brought spiritual nourishment to the poet and also given people a higher enjoyment beyond the material.

Brain science research shows that the human brain is not born to read, because everyone's brain needs a dedicated brain area for the processing of reading information, which needs to be formed through long-term progressive learning and reading. She appealed to her students that if they want to be smart, they should exercise more, read more books, and let brain cells make more diverse, faster, and more efficient connections.
Mr. Li Zhengtao has three readings, reading the author, reading the book, and reading the self, Lai Hanmei is deeply impressed. She recommends "Blue Dolphin Island" and "The Other Side of the Sky Blue" to primary school students, the former covering a lot of interdisciplinary knowledge, which is very meaningful for children to cultivate willpower and calm their emotions; the latter uses fairy tales to explain death, teach children not to become cowardly because of fear of death, at the same time, cherish the current life, learn to care for others.
In addition, she hopes that primary school students reading the classics of Traditional Chinese Studies, including the Analects, the Three Character Classic, and the Rhymes of Kasawong, can lay the foundation of being a human being from traditional culture, the foundation of doing things, cultivate the sense of language of reading, and lay a solid foundation for the growth path with reading classics, in order to have a broader future.
