Recently, Report Cars obtained a set of test spy photos of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It is reported that the new car is expected to be listed in early 2024. Coincidentally, this time is quite close to the time of the BMW 5 Series replacement. At that time, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will compete with the new generation of BMW 5 Series.
Judging from the spy photos, even if the vehicle is wrapped in a camouflage camouflage coat, the whole car is unrecognizable. But from its outline, you can still see a little shadow of the S-class. It is no wonder that after the spy photos were exposed, some netizens jokingly called it "Small S" and "S-class MINI". However, compared with the current E-class, the details of the new car have changed.
The grille size of the new car has been improved compared with the current model, which reminds people of the hot "big mouth" design in many popular models in the current new energy SUV market. The LED headlight groups on both sides were changed to a separate design, and the size was significantly larger than the current E-class. The top cannot be seen in full because it is obscured, but it is suspected to be equipped with an eagle hook-shaped day running lamp, which is more sporty than the current model.
On the side of the body, from the line point of view, there is still the shadow of the current E-class, visually somewhat flat, the line sense is still soft, and there is a slight elegance. The waistline runs through the body, and the door handles are suspected of being concealed, which can reduce drag. The new wheel hubs are blackened, and the multi-spoke shape with large brake discs once again enhances the sense of sport.
From the spy photo, the length ratio of the front of the car is longer than the current model, but the soft and stretched lines on the side make the vehicle as a whole more coordinated. The seemingly slightly low body, with a slender shape, has a feeling of "quiet as a virgin moving like a rabbit".
At the rear of the car, the overall shape is not much different from the current model, and it still looks like a simple design style. The internal structure of the tail light group is more complex, and most of it is entangled in tape, making it difficult to take a panoramic view. The plate frame is located in the center of the tailgate, and the concave design highlights the rear layering. There seems to be a through-type taillight design above the license plate, and the shape of the lower surrounding part is relatively simple, except for the hidden exhaust pipe design, there should be no other pattern.
In terms of interior, although there is no spy photo exposure, it can be expected that the new car will use the mercedes-Benz S-class series interior that has been well received by consumers. Imagine entering the car, multi-color optional ambience lights, full LCD dashboard, with a 12.8-inch OLED central control screen screen, a strong sense of technology. In terms of power, there is currently no information flowing out of the new car. However, according to previous internal revelations, the new car will be the last fuel car in the E-class. Therefore, the new E-class is likely to be equipped with an M254 2.0T engine, matched with a 48V light mix system and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It is also reported that some models will be equipped with air suspension and Mercedes-Benz 4Matic four-wheel drive system to improve the traffic capacity under different road conditions.
