In the Spring City of Kunming, in the dry rest house of Yingchun Lane, silver hair fluttering, the elderly man with a straight and stiff body is waving ink, and the cheerful laughter and the faint Tang River township tone in Mandarin are cordial and close. This 94-year-old man who still loves the art of painting is Liu Ying, former deputy secretary general of the Political Department of the Kunming Military Region and retired veteran cadre, who joined the army from Yuantan Street in 1948 and struggled for decades in the great southwest of the motherland. For forty years, he has been unswervingly serving the national situation. Rooted in the southwest of the motherland, engaged in military political work, elegant and free, flowing with style, dedicated his life's energy to the construction of the army's political culture, after retiring, he mainly engaged in painting calligraphy and seal carving, his artistic achievements reached a new peak, and his writings and paintings became famous in the military arena.
In 1929, Liu Ying was born in Yuantan Street, when the Liu family was in its heyday, and the real estate, real estate and shops were famous in Yuantan Street, known as "Little Hankou".
With the commercial prosperity of land and water docks, there has also been an unprecedented boom in education. Liu Ying completed her primary and junior high school studies in this good educational atmosphere of Yuantan. During her school years, Liu Ying gradually revealed her talent and love for art, especially painting. With high understanding, he studied Chinese painting from Mr. Lu Foting, a famous painter in Taiwan, and received mr. Li's appreciation. After graduating from Yuantan Middle School in 1945, with a desire for knowledge and a love of art, 17-year-old Liu Ying left her hometown and went alone to Kaifeng, the capital of Henan Province at that time, to study at Jibei High School, and a year later, transferred to Henan Kaifeng Art Normal School, under the guidance of the famous painter Mr. Wei Zixi.
In 1948, the flames of the Liberation War burned all over the Central Plains, the revolutionary situation was in full swing, and 19-year-old Liu Ying, stirred by the revolutionary wave, was enthusiastic and boiled, and joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army without hesitation, and joined the teaching team of the Political Department of the Second Yuxi Sub-district of the Central Plains Military Region. When she first joined the army, Liu Ying's high level of cultural knowledge and ability to coordinate propaganda organizations were highlighted, and she soon emerged. Three months later, he was transferred from the teaching team to the cultural and labor team, and was soon promoted to the captain of the detachment. In March 1949, he was transferred to the 42nd Division of the 14th Army of the Second Field Army as a detachment leader and an instructor of the divisional cultural and industrial team. On the broad stage of the division headquarters, the work performance and organizational coordination ability have been further improved. At the same time, we should actively go deep into the frontline of war, pay attention to study and accumulation, and temper the quality of politics and business. At the beginning of 1949, at the age of 20, he participated in the operation reporting work on the Xianggan border, compiled and refined the company's experience in overcoming the sweltering heat and rain and maintaining the health of the men and horses, compiled and refined the summary, and published the "Great MarchIng Army Newspaper" of the 14th Army, so that the company was rated as a company with "healthy people and horses and exemplary models." In December 1949, he led a cultural and industrial team to participate in the Battle of Qinzhou, blocking Bai Chongxi's commander's headquarters and his direct subordinate troops, and participating in the solemn Kunming entrance ceremony of the troops.
At the beginning of the founding of New China, in the army's revolutionary melting pot, the importance of propaganda and education work became increasingly prominent, and the head of the division headquarters had a unique insight and transferred Liu Ying to the propaganda section of the 42nd Division to carry out propaganda, education, training, and training. From 1951 to 1986, in the past 35 years, Liu Ying started from the Propaganda Department of the 42nd Division to the deputy secretary general of the Secretariat of the Political Department of the Kunming Military Region, and Comrade Liu Ying wrote a number of influential reports and achieved outstanding achievements. In 1953, when he was serving as an instructor of the 42nd Division, he trained more than 200 cadres and popularized the military training and political work guarantee plan among the whole division company, which was praised by the division leaders. In 1959, he entered Tibet to suppress the rebellion, served as a former propaganda officer, participated in the "Total Annihilation Battle of Gangda Monastery", and wrote the "Summary of the Political And Ideological Work Experience of Tibet Counterinsurgency", which was included in the collection of essays "Fighting on the Plateau". Since 1970, he has served as deputy secretary general of the Political Department of the Kunming Military Region and chief of the Political Engineering Research Section, and in the following ten years, he has led the working group to go deep into the border defense front-line company 11 times, investigate and study, and write more than 30 investigation reports, educational instructions and pilot experience circulars. Among them, the article "Commenting on Lin Biao's 'Political Border Defense'" was published on a page by the "People's Liberation Army Daily" in the name of a special commentator of this newspaper, and the experience of "approving forests and rectifying the wind" of Yunnan border defense was popularized to the national land border defense forces. Until 1986, he left his post to recuperate, but he was still employed as a divisional adviser of the Political Department of the 14th Army, held lectures on official document writing for the political organs of the army, division, and regiment, held political work seminars, and compiled and printed the speeches into a book and distributed them to the troops for discussion and study. Propaganda and political work plays a unique role in army building, and Comrade Liu Ying has achieved fruitful results on the political work front of the military region with more than thirty years of diligent work.

Liu Ying, who has struggled for the army's revolutionary cause for most of her life, still has a burning feeling in her heart. He gave full play to his decades of professional advantages and strengths, poured his love for the army and his feelings for the great rivers and mountains of the motherland into his pen, set up a calligraphy and painting study meeting, personally led retired veterans to soar in the world of calligraphy and painting, and composed and painted another colorful chapter.
In 1986, he founded the Kunming Regional Army Veteran Cadres Calligraphy and Painting Study Association, and personally served as the executive vice president. Due to his deep foundation in painting and calligraphy in his early years, in just a few years, he has made him famous in the field of calligraphy and painting. He has been elected as a director and creative researcher of the Chinese Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, a member of the Art Committee of the Wenhuage Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the Ministry of Culture, the vice president of the Calligraphy and Painting Association of the Chengdu Military Region for the Elderly, the executive director of the Yunnan Provincial Elderly Cadres Calligraphy and Painting Association, and the leader and consultant of the painting guidance group. He has been employed by more than 20 national and local calligraphy and painting organizations as consultants, standing directors, researchers, special calligraphers and painters. The association he led has made remarkable achievements in teaching calligraphy and painting, cultivating talents, building spiritual civilization, and sponsoring public welfare undertakings, and has been awarded the honorary title of "advanced collective" by the relevant leading organs in Beijing, Chengdu and Yunnan six times. A total of 189 of his works have been exhibited in calligraphy and painting exhibitions held by the whole country, the whole army, the large military region and various provinces and cities, and he has won 22 awards of various grades, and his personal "artistic resume" has been included in 43 various classics.
The order of the years is constant, and the ambition is eternal. Life's generous gifts to the strivers are gratifying. Liu Ying received many honors in the unremitting struggle of the army and the creation of calligraphy and painting after leaving retirement: the Yunnan Provincial Committee on Aging "Advanced Individual who Has Achieved Something for the Elderly", the "Model Communist Party Member" of the 22nd Branch of the Chengdu Military Region's Joint Logistics Department, and was awarded the Liberation Medal in 1956 and the Medal of Merit for Victory in 1988. He published 12 research papers on the political work of the armed forces, 2 of which were forwarded by the General Political Department, participated in the editing of "The War History of the 42nd Division", "Fighting on the Plateau", "Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy of Veteran National Defense Soldiers", "Collection of Old Hanmo Essays of Dian Lao", and wrote 16 revolutionary memoirs.
Although the mulberry elm is late, the rainbow reflects the sky. Decades of life experience and cultivation, so that this elderly man still maintains good living habits, the interior is clean and fresh, decades of works, notes, calligraphy and paintings and other categories are neatly classified, and various awards and trophies are filled with bookcases. In addition to the creation of calligraphy and painting, a melodious and gentle Nanyang opera is played, and the melody that flutters from the strings is thousands of miles away from the hometown, but the nostalgia and affection for the hometown are more and more touching.
Mr. Liu Ying, who came out of Yuantan, is the uncle of our family who is proud of the old Zhang family in Mawan and that I regard as an example to learn from.
