On the night of the 15th, the 5th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army on the West Road, the 5 detachments of the East Road, and the Independent Regiment of Qinghe simultaneously launched a counter-surrender campaign against the Chiang Kai-shek army Cai Jinkang and Chen Yubu. The 4 regiments in the west marched in 3 routes towards Asan. When the troops came to the foot of Asan Mountain, they saw that the mountain was steep and the peaks stood like jagged teeth.
How to capture Asan? Xu Shiyou pondered bitterly. They asked the people in the village to understand the terrain, and an old man told the story of Yu Qiqi's resistance to the Qing army. After our army won the initial battle, the war situation changed. The remnants of the vanguard battalion of the 51st Army fled back to the Yimeng Mountains, and Zhao Baoyuan, seeing that the situation was not good, hurriedly built a bunker to strengthen the defense.
