On 19 April, the Embassy in Somalia, the Ministry of Health of Somalia and the Bernadir Women's and Children's Hospital jointly held a ceremony to upgrade and repair the operating room of the hospital. Ambassador Fei Shengchao, Minister of Health of Suo, Nur, president of the hospital, and Faton, president of the hospital, attended and visited the hospital, and officials at all levels of the Ministry of Health of The Soviet Union, doctors of various departments of the hospital, and friends from all walks of life in The Hospital attended the event.
Ambassador Fei said that China-Somalia health cooperation has a long history, and we have a special and deep affection for the Bernadir Women's and Children's Hospital, which was built by the Chinese side more than 40 years ago, and the Chinese side has always provided multi-faceted support for the development of the hospital over the years. Over the past few months, China has actively promoted the implementation of the four-point proposal put forward by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, including "deepening pragmatic cooperation" and the "nine projects" including the "Health Project", to provide support for the upgrading and renovation of the operating room of Bernadir Hospital. The restoration of the hospital's surgical capacity has brought a ray of hope to the lives and health of women and children, vividly demonstrating the enduring spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation. China will continue to work with the Sudanese side to deepen health cooperation and jointly build a community of human health.
Minister Noor extended Ramadan wishes to friends from all walks of life and thanked China for its generous support. Nu said that it witnessed the birth of the Benadir Hospital, which was built with Chinese assistance, and also witnessed the development of traditional friendly relations between Somalia and China. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Embassy and the Hospital for several months, the restoration of the functioning of the operating room has provided standardized, hygienic and professional working conditions for pregnant women to give birth, which is a true portrayal of the protection of basic human rights through pragmatic cooperation between Somalia and China. The Soviet side is willing to work with China to continue to deepen health cooperation and promote the further development of bilateral relations between The Two Sides.
President Faton thanked the Chinese side for its continuous support to the Sofang side over the years, especially to Bernadir Hospital, thanked Ambassador Fei for his contribution to the health cooperation between Suo and China, and said that since the hospital operating room function was restored, more than 200 obstetric and gynecological operations have been performed every month. In the context of the repeated outbreak of the new crown epidemic, it has greatly boosted the morale and confidence of the Sofang side to protect the lives and health of women and children.
