Editor's note: From now on, the "Youth Talk" column plans to launch the "Rural Educator's Handbook" to provide a platform for rural principals and teachers to show themselves, share what they have seen and heard on the front line of education, and help the construction of rural education pilot areas.

The following is the educational notes of Wu Qian, director of moral education at Zhao Zhuang Primary School in Yuezhuang Town, Yiyuan County, Zibo City:

The profession of a teacher is like a cup of tea, a faint breath, a faint fragrance, and can also bring us a full sense of happiness. 2020, this is the 8th year of my work, but also the first year I set foot in the hot land of Yuezhuang, in this year, I became the class teacher of 28 children, I always take the phrase "if I am a child, if I am a child" as my unforgettable motto, I strive to understand, tolerate, respect and care for each child with the sincere love of a teacher.

Once upon a time, when I saw those children with dirty faces, they always didn't want to come closer, let alone hold those little black hands. Since becoming a mother myself, I have become more and more intimate with my children. Plus my eldest daughter also happens to be in the first grade, and I am the same age as my students. I always thought that the children in the class were all my children.

Tong Tong (pseudonym) is the only left-behind child in our class, her parents have been away for many years, and Tong Tong's mother is a strong woman in her career, working hard in a big city. Tong Tong's father is even more because of the relationship of special occupation, all year round, even years do not see Tong Tong's side. In the second semester of the first grade, her grandmother, who took good care of Tong Tong, also died, leaving her alone with her. Tong Tong's mother also thought about taking Tong Tong and grandpa to school in her city, but Grandpa was reluctant to leave the old house where she had lived all her life, so Tong Tong continued to stay in our class.

Like all left-behind children, Tong Tong has low self-esteem, sensitivity, and a more mature mind than the average child. She used to be sullen all day because I had turned her seat back a little; when she did psychological screening at school, she made different choices than other children, she chose to be afraid of the dark, often dreaming of dead relatives and so on. This child made my heart ache, I wanted to give her double love and companionship, but I knew that I could never replace her parents, all I could give her was the love of the homeroom teacher, the love of the warm class collective.

Therefore, I often use the class meeting to educate the children: "We are a big family, we are brothers and sisters with each other, we must care for each other and help each other, older brothers and sisters should love and protect younger brothers and sisters, and Tong Tong is the youngest in our class, we must love and care for her." ”

Gradually, children became accustomed to caring for and loving Tongtong. Just this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, almost all the children brought small gifts such as mooncakes and exercise books to Tong Tong, and Tong Tong happily said to me: "Teacher, I have received a lot of gifts, I am so happy!" ”

In the blink of an eye, Tong Tong's birthday is coming, and it is the National Day, Tong Tong is looking forward to meeting her mother, she said to me again and again: "Teacher, my mother is coming back!" "One day, Tong Tong's mother contacted me and told me that this National Day holiday, because of work reasons, can not come back, can not give Tong Tong a birthday, my mother also feels remorse. Hearing this, I thought of Tong Tong's lost eyes, how sad it would be if she knew the news... How do I tell my child? I spent the afternoon thinking about it.

Later, I thought I could give Tong Tong a birthday.

The last day before the National Day holiday happened to be Tong Tong's birthday. During recess that day, I asked Tong Tong to go to the office to give me that homework, and I took the opportunity to gather all the children in the class to discuss how to celebrate Tong Tong's birthday. As soon as they heard that they wanted to celebrate Tong Tong's birthday, the children were very excited, everyone expressed their opinions, and finally formulated a birthday surprise plan, and made a division of labor according to the plan.

At noon, some children are responsible for dragging Tong Tong and letting her stay in the canteen for a while to buy time for surprises. Some children came back early to decorate the classroom, while others were responsible for keeping a guard at the door. In this way, everyone is actively busy. It took a while to set up the classroom.

After receiving the signal, several classmates walked towards the classroom surrounded tongtong. I don't know who shouted: "Tong Tong is coming!" The students suddenly hid behind the desk. I took my phone and waited for the moment when Tong Tong entered the door, gently, the door was pushed open, Tong Tong looked at the table that was piled together with a puzzled face, and the birthday cake on the table, and before he could react, the children suddenly jumped up from under the table and shouted: "Tong Tong, happy birthday!" "Then I sang the birthday song...

And Tong Tong, the look in his eyes was first doubtful, but also surprised, and then touched, and then, with tears in his eyes, he laughed... In this way, we had a first group birthday that belonged to our class, and Tong Tong also had an unforgettable birthday memory.

Group activities like this are often staged in our class, for example, the collective catwalk performance on Children's Day, the daily sharing of fruits after lunch, eating rice dumplings together during the Dragon Boat Festival, etc. I prefer to take the children to do these collective activities rather than letting the children do their homework all the time. Collective activities can enhance children's sense of collective honor and cooperation, children in the activities, mutual cooperation, mutual adaptation, common progress and retreat, common decline and common prosperity.

Take the small matter of competing for the class mobile red flag, when the children know that they need to work together to get a mobile red flag that belongs to our collective, everyone's eyes are full of determination, and they look like they must win, and occasionally some students who accidentally deduct points will also take the initiative to apologize in front of everyone and promise never to do this again.

In this way, under the persistence of every child, our class won our first mobile red flag, everyone took a happy group photo, and everyone was proud to get this mobile red flag.

Gradually, under my leadership, the children became more united, more loving to each other, less small reports in my ear, and more math problems gathered after class. Slowly, our class has become an excellent class group recognized by the school, and when it comes to our class, we can't help but praise it, the children in this class are so good! But only I know, as a class teacher, how much thought I have spent on this group of children, how many brain cells I have died. Only because I believe that without the love given in vain, if you never forget it, there will be an echo.

Of course, ordinary days are not always smooth, and these children also have times when I jump like thunder. When I first started as a homeroom teacher, I asked myself, what kind of class teacher would I like if I were a child? Yes, I like the class teacher who is lenient and strict with the students, conscientious in his work, caring for the students, and is both a strict teacher and a good friend. This made me suddenly enlightened. I treat myself as a child, to experience the inner world of children, to understand their "absurdity" with a childlike heart, to tolerate their "faults", to respect them, and to let them always experience a teacher-student relationship that is higher than maternal love and beyond friendship, which may become the internal motivation for children to correct their mistakes. For children, sometimes tolerance is more powerful than punishment.

Spring wind and rain urge new buds, hard work peach Li Yan. Looking at the innocent faces of the children, listening to the happy laughter of the children, all the troubles left behind, everything is so worthwhile, I feel the sense of accomplishment and happiness brought to me by education! I am willing to continue to sprinkle my enthusiasm into the hearts of the children in this ordinary work in the future. On this three-foot podium, with my love, care and patience, in exchange for tomorrow's peach and plum fragrance!
