Subaru has been supporting both Android Auto and CarPlay as standard features in its vehicles for several years, starting with most models in 2017-18. However, the brand has so far only supported a wired version of the technology, requiring a third-party dongle that allows users to wirelessly connect their phones to get anything other than Bluetooth music and calls.

The Subaru 2023 Outback will be the brand's first vehicle to support both wireless Android Auto and wireless CarPlay through the "Starlink" infotainment system. However, Subaru did not specify which trim levels would support the feature.

"For the first time, the 2023 Outback will feature a OUTBACK vehicle with a SUBARU STARLINK multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Now you can more easily view and control navigation, music, podcasts, and other content and apps without plugging in your smartphone. ”

The car still uses a 2.5-liter internal combustion engine and can travel up to 33 miles per gallon on the highway. Pricing has not yet been determined, but the existing 2022 Outback model starts at about $28,000 (about 178,600 yuan).
