Vernacular Translation:

Majestic heavenly mountains, vast sea of clouds, a round of bright moon pouring silver light. The mighty and long wind swept through tens of thousands of miles of Guanshan Mountain, and came to the border pass where the Shubian soldiers were stationed. Han Gaozu sent an army to Bai Deng to conquer the Xiongnu, and Tubo coveted a large area of rivers and mountains in Qinghai. In these places of conquest for generations, it is rare to see anyone who is happy to survive. The soldiers looked up at the border city and thought of returning to their hometown with sad faces. When this night of the haoyue moon, the wife of the moon-watching widow on the tall building is also frequently lamenting, distant relatives, when will you be able to remove your armor and wash the dust and return.

Background:

This poem writes about the mutual thoughts of the soldiers who are far away from home and the wives and rooms at home, which profoundly reflects the pain brought by the war to the broad masses of the people. The whole poem is divided into three layers, the first four sentences, mainly writing about the vast border plug picture including the three factors of Guan, Mountain, and Moon, thus showing the mood of the people who are nostalgic for the homeland; the middle four sentences, specifically writing about the scene of the war, the battlefield is tragic and cruel; the last four sentences write that the people look at the border and miss their hometown, and then speculate that the wife sighs incessantly on the moon and night. This poem is like a long scroll of biansaitu composed of three parts: Guan Shan Mingyue, Battlefield Lamentation, and Shuke Sigui, with resentment running through the whole poem, the tone is unified, the atmosphere is majestic, and the style is natural.

Li Bai saw the scene of the conquest, so he lamented that the Tang Dynasty was strong and powerful, but the side dust had never been eliminated. This poem was written while lamenting the hardships of the warriors and the sorrows of the women in the rear.

Thoughts:

In this poem, Li Bai depicts the hard life of the border guards, shows the great pain caused by the conquest to the people, and expresses the poet's strong condemnation of the war.

In the first four sentences, the poet selects typical scenery of the border plugs such as "Bright Moon", "Tianshan Mountain", "Long Wind", and "Yumen Pass", and depicts a desolate and magnificent scenery of the border plugs. The "Tian shan" here is in the western part of the continent, so it should be the place where the sunset is, why does this article say that the moon rises from the Tian Shan? This is because when the frontier warriors were in the west of the Tianshan Mountains and looked to the east, they saw this scene, and the writing was very real and vivid, making people feel immersed in the scene. Because there are clouds and mist on the Tianshan Mountain, it is called the Sea of Clouds. The connection between the mountains and the sea of clouds, coupled with the bright moon, outlines a majestic and quiet picture. The following two sentences, "The long wind is tens of thousands of miles, blowing the jade gate close", the artistic conception is more open. These two sentences are still written from the perspective of the Shubian warriors, the warriors are in the northwest frontier, looking at their hometowns in the moonlight, they feel that the wind blowing from Yumen Pass seems to blow through tens of thousands of miles of Central Plains land and then come to Yumen Pass, and the wind should also carry the smell of their hometown. Therefore, we can imagine that when the warriors look eastward, although what they see is the scenery, the scenery of the border plug, which is completely different from the Central Plains, is permeated with the soldiers' strong homesickness.

The next four sentences (from "Hanxia Bai Dengdao" to "I don't see anyone still" are written by the magnificent scenery of the border plug to the border plug warriors. Liu Bang, the ancestor of Han Gao, once led an army to conquer the Xiongnu, and was trapped by the Xiongnu in Baishan Mountain. The area around Qingwan was the place where the Tang army and Tubo had frequent wars. The frequent wars of the past generations have made it possible for the soldiers who went out to rarely return alive, which shows the cruelty of war. Wang Han's "Liangzhou Song" in which "Gu Lai conquered several people back" also confirmed this. These four sentences inherit the border plug environment above, causing the following war to cause the conscripts and si women to fall into the pain of deep longing.

The last four sentences, writing that the warriors looked at the scenery of the border plug, looking forward to being able to return home soon, their faces full of sorrow, they thought of their wives in the high-rise buildings of the family, they should sigh in the night. The warrior's "looking at the border" brought people into the vast environment outside the country in the first four sentences, and such a desolate and vast environment made the warrior's thoughts widen and distant, and the image of the warrior looking at the scenery and homesick immediately became clear. The warrior was thinking bitterly, and the emotions in it were as deep as the edge plugs. The warrior's love and the scene in front of him are perfectly integrated, leaving people with infinite sorrow, so that the warriors' nostalgia for their wives is more and more profound and intriguing.

The poet truly describes the homesickness of the soldiers who conquered the frontier, and these wars not only brought pain to the soldiers, but also to the families of the soldiers, leaving the perfect family fragmented. The poets did not express their inner pain with heavy ink, but the words and sentences in the text penetrated the pain of the people, which also reflected the poet's hatred of war. The whole poem is strong and powerful.
