The 10th anniversary of the premiere of the spring return "Ballad of the Canal" kicked off the National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera Festival 2022

From April 14 to April 17, the original national opera "Ballad of the Canal" of the National Centre for the Performing Arts will return to the stage on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its premiere, opening the National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera Festival 2022. The play is the first original national opera since the establishment of the Grand Theatre, based on the humanistic background of the Grand Canal, with an epic aesthetic perspective and a simple and fresh artistic style, based on the domestic first-line artist team of composer Yin Qing, screenwriter Huang Weiruo, Dong Ni, director Liao Xianghong and other domestic first-line artists.

The opera "Ballad of the Canal" takes the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal as the background of the story, and through describing the fate of the characters in the play on the canal, it shows the good and evil life and death, righteousness and thin clouds witnessed by the canal, and praises the pure love and the human love of self-denial. Since its inception, the play has gone through five rounds of hot performances, and has been deeply loved by the audience with its ups and downs, the elegant dance art of splashing ink ancient paintings and the beautiful melody. In the play, singing sections such as "We are the flowing water of the canal", "Canal Ballad", "Brilliant Star Gaze", "Where are you, Red Lotus" are widely sung and have become classics in the hearts of the audience.

For this round of performances, composer Mr. Yin Qing spent more than two months to revise and arrange the entire score of the opera "Ballad of the Canal", and presented the personal emotions and spiritual realm of the protagonists in the play in a more delicate, complete and abundant way of musical expression. In terms of the performance lineup, this round will be led by the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, the National Centre for the Performing Arts Choir, Lei Jia, Wang Lida, Wang Zhe, Wang Hongwei, Wang Zenan, Wang Li, Sun Yan, Wang Hexiang and many other singers who participated in the premiere of the play ten years ago, recounting the sad and happy clutches on both sides of the millennium canal, singing moving arias loved by the audience.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera Festival 2022 will also set sail in April with the story of "Ballad of the Canal". With the theme of "Singing Huazhang", this year's opera festival will tell the story of the revolution for the audience in the form of opera for four months, recreate Western classics, and arrange wonderful children's operas for young audiences. Among them, there are the opening drama "Ballad of the Canal", which takes the audience to feel the melodious poetry of the smoke and paddles and the vivid charm of national art, and there are Chinese opera classics and new works that carry forward the deeds of revolutionary heroes and ancestors, such as "Daughter of the Party". In addition to Chinese opera works, the world's classic opera masterpieces will also be presented in a variety of forms. The "Tribute to the Classics" by the Choir of the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the "On The Golden Wings" concert by the opera performers of the National Centre for the Performing Arts will sing the most popular singing segments of Wagner and Verdi operas respectively. The Central Opera House will also re-enact the love-hate love and hatred of the gypsy girl Carmen in the Bizet opera Carmen. In addition, the two children's operas "Brainless and Unhappy" and "Avanti", which are popular among children, will also be performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts Theater and the Taihu Choreographic Art Center respectively.
