On the morning of April 22, the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan Tongzhou Station was held at the Grand Canal Academy in Beijing-Hangzhou. Representatives of cities along the Grand Canal such as Beijing, Yangzhou, and Hangzhou were connected on the spot, marking the official opening of the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan Reading City Relay Activity. The event awarded the "Grand Canal Reading Base" plaque to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Academy, and Wang Jianzhao, Yan Haiming, Zhao Yong, Jing Junwei, Wang Ying, etc. were hired as the reading promoters of the Grand Canal.

Based on Tongzhou, the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan is carried out in 22 streets and townships in Tongzhou District, the Grand Canal Cultural Scenic Spot in Tongzhou District and more than 30 cities along the Grand Canal, and through the launching activities of the Grand Canal Reading Plan, the Grand Canal Reading Relay, the Grand Canal Reading Block Relay, the Listing of the Grand Canal Reading Base, and the Holding of the Grand Canal Reading Forum, the establishment of a long-term mechanism for the promotion of the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan and the expansion of the dissemination of the Grand Canal culture. Compared with previous years, the cities participating in the Grand Canal Reading City Relay have reached a new high, and these more than 30 cities will inherit and carry forward the cultural characteristics of their respective cities in the form of colorful activities, share the spirit of canal culture and humanistic stories, continue to excavate reading promoters who are committed to inheriting canal culture, and open up a number of reading bases with canal cultural characteristics.

Since the end of March, Tongzhou District has carried out the "Reading the Grand Canal Together" street relay in 22 streets and townships under its jurisdiction, and has now completed the relay in 9 streets and townships including Yongledian Town, Wenjing Street, Xiji Town, Yongshun Town, and Lucheng Town.

The Tongzhou District Culture and Tourism Bureau issued a proposal for the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan, calling on social forces and more resources to join the Grand Canal Reading Alliance, comprehensively promote exchanges and cooperation between cities along the Grand Canal in the field of reading for all, enhance interaction and connection between various places, and establish a long-term operation mechanism for the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan.

At the same time, the "China Grand Canal Reading Walking Handbook" was also released for the first time on the spot. In order to help more people who love the culture of the Grand Canal to participate in the action of reading the canal, the organizers specially planned and produced the "China Grand Canal Reading Walking Handbook". Readers can complete their own canal journey according to the "5 Strategies for Reading the Grand Canal" in the handbook, draw a study tent, and leave a unique memory of reading the canal.

At the scene of the event, the well-known actor Jing Junwei recited the clip of canal writer Wang Zifu's new work "Caoyun Boat Gang", which instantly brought people back to the grand canal in their memories. Writer Xu Zechen's literary work "Going North" depicting the Grand Canal won the 10th Mao Dun Literature Award, and the fragments of the work were put on the stage for the first time, and the film and television actor and Marshal He Long played by Zhao Yong and others performed theatrical interpretation to reproduce the canal story in literary works.

According to reports, Tongzhou District will continue to cultivate the Grand Canal Reading Promotion Volunteer Team, build the mass foundation of the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan, mobilize the enthusiasm for participating in the reading activities of the whole people, and also let the results of the Grand Canal Reading Action Plan benefit more citizens.
