XDA: The Android system will issue a warning when the user runs a 32-bit app

IT House April 5 news, according to xda-developers reported that although Google has been trying to give up support for 32-bit apps on Android for the past few years, 32-bit apps may take some time to become a thing of the past. However, to speed up this process, Google may soon bring a new change to Android, which is to warn users when running 32-bit apps on 64-bit systems.

Code changes submitted to AOSP Gerrit highlight a new warning that pops up whenever a user is running a 32-bit app on a 64-bit system.

IT House understands that screenshots show that a warning message tells users that "the app needs to be updated by the developer to improve compatibility" and urges them to check for updates or contact the developer. The idea behind the move is to push developers to build 64-bit versions of the app, but it's unclear when Google will implement this change.

It's important to note that Android has shown similar warnings when users try to run apps that don't meet the minimum targetSDK requirements. Google implemented this change in Android 10, and the company now plans to update the minimum supported targetSDK level to 28.

Depending on the requirements of the update, Android will start warning users when they try to run an app that targets Android 8.1 Oreo or earlier. However, this change has not yet been applied to the current Android 13 version.
