Every year around April 23 (World Book Day), on the day of spring breeze and warmer, a grand event about reading, the Spring Wind Reading List Awards Ceremony, is held in Hangzhou.
Writers, translators and critics from all over the country gathered in Hangzhou to take stock of the high-quality books of the past year and work with readers to unveil a comprehensive and high-quality "Spring Breeze Delight Reading List".
Since 2012, the Spring Breeze Reading List has been awarded for nine sessions. It achieved its original goal and became a unique reading event in the Yangtze River Delta.

That book and that award in 2015 marked the beginning of a new phase in my life
In 2015, the Chunfeng Yue Reading List Newcomer of the Year Award was awarded to Dian, whose work was "Southern Lingliang". Looking back at the entire creative resume, "There is a Ling Yang in the South" is a relatively special work for Diane.
"It's the only time I've ever written an ancient story, the only historical novel." This is the first layer of "special".
At the same time, the book spans an important stage in her life from the beginning to the end of the book—I am still writing the last third of the book after I became a mother. "It's the same stage as conceiving this work and conceiving my daughter. So for me, it has a special commemorative significance. ”

After 2015, being a mom had a huge impact on my writing

Diane's new work, which meets readers around the summer, tells the story of the friendship between an adult and a child. "The main thing I want to write is that a person knows a new life, and after meeting such a child, she began to examine her own life for the first 30 years."
"After I had my daughter, I found that I could remember a lot of things when I was a kid, but because of her, I remembered it. I had no memory of it before, and some of it probably didn't even count as events. Many of children's memories are fragments, not even coherent. This kind of thing or the experience of a moment is usually difficult to remember; with a child, I don't know when to remember those flashing pictures. ”
Having children gives you a new chance to see your own life. It's a wonderful experience that Diane discovered in a new phase of her life.
"For me, as a novelist, one day suddenly becoming a child's mother, the change of role has a very big and very big impact on my writing. This is not the case for every female writer, and you can't see that kind of change in some people's words. ”
Diane said that the role transformation was projected in the pen, and she did not realize it at first, and many people around her told her that the text had changed a lot after having children.
"I can't say whether it's good or bad, but it did happen, and it shows that this cub has a reshaping effect on your personality."
Young writers have something unique in them
Talking about the newcomer writers in the past two years, Dian recommended Zhou Kai, "a boy in Sichuan". He wrote "Youth, Rouge and Spirit Monsters" (Chu Chen/CITIC Publishing Group, July 2021), his collection of short stories is very good, and Zhou Kai is also Diane's favorite new writer in the past two years.
"Looking at a young writer, I think one thing is very important, there is something particularly personal and recognizable in his language. I now understand that with the passage of time, with the enrichment of a person's life experience, the distinctive personal characteristics of the initial language will become more and more flat and less. Something special that is very sharp in the beginning, very sharp, it is diminishing over time. When a style is formed, it transforms into something else.
"So I think it's very important when you look at writers in their twenties."
