The Holy Theatre is also the oldest and largest theatre academy in Europe; it is one of the four major theatre academies in the world and a member of the World Federation of Theatre Education. It is regarded as the oldest and largest theater school in Russia to train and impart all professional skills in the field of modern theatrical arts.

Holy Theatre is the world's top drama school and the most well-known drama school in the world with the Stanislavsky system as its teaching philosophy. The school has played a guiding role in the development of other drama schools in the world. The St. Petersburg State Drama Academy established diplomatic relations with the Central Academy of Drama on the mainland in the 1950s. In 2015, the Central Academy of Drama exchanged with the Academy of State Academy of Dramatic Arts of Saint Petersburg for the first time, and carried out cooperation projects, and the Holy Theatre is also the guiding academy of the Central Academy of Drama.

Every year, about 1,500 students from different countries study here, and its watch directing major is even more famous in the world. Holy Theatre is a world-renowned comprehensive theater school. The Academy has extensive experience in teaching theatrical performances. World performing artist, the famous Soviet actor Nikolai Konstantinovich Chelkasov, who has starred in films such as "Peter the Great" and "Don Quixote", graduated from the school's acting department.

In terms of school drama creation, Lyudmila Rasumovskaya, a graduate of the screenwriting department, created the sensational "Forbidden Game of Youth"; the play was created in the 1980s, and in the last decade or so, it has been put on the stage of almost all countries in Europe, and it has also been staged in the United States and Canada. Where it plays, it causes a sensation. The school has always implemented the teaching policy of table directors in the Stanislavsky system in the teaching of directors, among which the director of the famous film "Quiet Don" Sergei Apollinarievich Gerasimov graduated from the department of directing.

St. Petersburg's operas are also renowned, and the Mariinsky Theatre is located in St. Petersburg as a world-renowned opera and ballet theater. The completion and opening of the Mariinsky Theatre heralded the dawn of a golden age in the history of opera in St. Petersburg. Verdi's The Power of Destiny was first performed here in 1862, and the composer was present. In this long history of more than two hundred years, the Academy has undergone a transformation and development from the realist tradition of the Imperial Drama School to the Mayerhold method of work. The leading teaching purpose of the Academy is still based on the Stanislavsky system, especially the dramatic techniques that it advocated in its later years and are well known in Russia, namely: the method of physical action and the method of action analysis; in addition, the "biomechanical method" of Meyerhold is also included in the academy's actor training system. The Academy strives to combine traditional training methods with contemporary innovative ideas, especially those based on the achievements of Russian theater in the 20th century. This pedagogical philosophy has allowed st. Petersburg State Academy of Dramatic Arts to remain in close contact with the forefront of theatre education and performance.
