It is understood that the forum is a summit academic forum created by the School of Arts of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2019, which has been held for two sessions, which has played an important role in promoting the academic exchanges and discipline development and construction of the School of Arts. This year, the forum was jointly sponsored by the School of Arts and the University-level Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Historical and Cultural Heritage Research Center", with the theme of "Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection and Revitalization Practices in the Context of Urban Renewal".

Professor Wang Kaihong, vice dean of Guangwai Art College, believes that the focus of this conference is on how to protect the authenticity and historical value of historical and cultural heritage in the contemporary context of rapid urban expansion, rapid economic development and rural cultural revitalization, so that these historical and cultural heritage can truly "live" and become new economic and cultural growth points for inheriting history and culture, extending urban memory, and pinning on urban nostalgia.

Professor Du Peng of Guangwai Art College said that in a sense, protection is "conservative" and development is "restoration", which is a game and integration of two concepts, but they are not a relationship of separation, but a fusion of "cutting and keeping reason and chaos"; how to restore historical information and produce new functions, how to obtain the "commonality" of spirit and culture in this game, is the core issue of the protection and development of historical heritage.
