The first phase of the playoffs this season switched to a best-of-three format, and the quarterfinals continued to use a best-of-three. The semi-finals use a best-of-five system, while the finals use a best-of-seven format. This is a big change from the past two seasons. In the past two seasons, the CBA has shrunk due to the epidemic in the playoffs, the first stage and the quarterfinals are single-game elimination systems, and the semi-finals and finals are three-game best-of-three systems, which makes many fans shout that they are not addicted, and this season the CBA has finally responded to the voices of fans, and the degree of shrinkage in the playoffs has been significantly improved.
The playoff schedule and format are as follows:
Stage 1 (12-8): April 1-6, a best-of-three format is used, with the winner advancing to the second stage of the playoffs. Regular season 1-4 teams bye, automatically into the second stage;
Stage 2 (Quarterfinals): April 7-12, a best-of-three format is used, with the winner advancing to the third stage of the playoffs;
Stage 3 (Semi-Finals): On 13-22 April, a best-of-five system was used, with the winner advancing to The fourth stage;
Stage 4 (Finals): From April 24 to May 7, the winner will become the overall champion of the 2021-2022 China Men's Basketball Professional League.
